My Real Life experience. Step forward and extend your hand to someone who is in need of help...we owe a lot

This is about My Real Life experience & happy to share. Idea behind to share this story is, our fellow beings may get inspired & do their best contribution to others & make our society better :-)

Last 2 months are very anxious moments for me personally. I am into once in a life time catastrophe sort of.....

My father was diagnosed with a serious illness and I am completely into taking care of him. My goal is to provide him best treatment at best hospital, so that I will improve the chances to fight with destiny and extend his life span. Fortunately, I was blessed with couple of doctors from my distant family and more over they treat the same disease at different places in India. With their guidance and support, I was able to cross 1st crucial step- Surgery was successful. He was operated by one of the best surgeon in India. And mostly, I was so pleased & impressed with the team of doctors, nursing, from helpers to support staff at Billing, Insurance, Reception etc. They are good at providing utmost care to every patient- doesn’t matter if the patient is through insurance, cash or Government card holder (ArogyaSree card in Telangana- Complete free treatment). We won’t see such kind of hospital where everyone is treated equal.

·???????These kind of gestures show us "Care for People", "Passion in what they do", Affordable treatment for every segment of society.

By experiencing such wonderful humanitarian aspects, I took a step forward and publicly appreciated by holding both of my hands together to all the staff working on of the busiest floors in the hospital 2 days back. Every one of them felt very happy and reciprocated with their well wishes for my father speedy recovery. Some of the staff, just came to me and humbly told “Sir, it’s our responsibility”.

·???????This shows how responsible they are towards patients and still be humble- "Don't hesitate to appreciate who really deserve, be it anyone".

During these days, my father was in ICU for about 5 days. On one day, suddenly I received a call from ICU at late night, while I am at home. There was a need to get some medicines from outside, but I was not in a position to hit back to hospital immediately. Luckily, I saved one of the patients attendant (son to a mother with same disease, who is staying in the hospital completely) mobile number anticipating such situation may come to me. I called up that person (Shekhar) and requested him to rush to ICU and to do the needful. Without hesitation, he jumped into it and able to manage the situation, without me going to hospital. I have thanked him from bottom of my heart and next day I went personally to him and told him if he needs any help in future, asked him to call me anytime and don’t hesitate to ask.

  • One unknown person has helped another person who is in similar situation. This tells us, how we as humans should help each other, especially in difficult situations Shekhar’s mother got discharged after 2 days but still my father is in hospital. After 3rd day, Shekhar had called me and started explaining his situation.
  • "Be proactive & predict unpredictable things to the extent possible"
  • "Ask for help without hesitation rather getting struck with unplanned situations in life"

Shekhar's Story- His father is suffering with a paralyzed condition from past 2 year and his mother is taking care of him all the while. But, 4 months ago, unfortunately his mother diagnosed with this serious disease and now he is back to hospital again to get his mother treated. Shekhar and his sister is taking care of their both parents. Because of this, he was not able to attend his duties properly (he used to work in a pharmacy & has 15 yrs of experience), he was fired by his owner 2 months ago while he is busy in taking care of his mother's treatment. Shekhar had explained his situation and asked me if I can be of any help. Immediately, I got complete understanding about his expertise/skills in handling duties at a pharmacy. Then, I have reached out to all my relatives who owns different businesses and asked their help if they can offer him a job. Unfortunately, it did not work out. Once my father is back to home, I started visiting every medical shop in my surrounding locality and enquired about any openings with them for Shekhar. I have roamed for 2 days and visited about 30 pharmacies, but no luck. We used to buy medicines at one of the prominent pharmacy which is just near to my society where I am staying. It’s a very busy, big with lot of sales & staff. As a last attempt, I went to that pharmacy owner and explained about the critical situation of Shekhar. He took my contact and Shekar's number. He said, currently they don’t have any open positions but will let me know if any. However, I couldn't able to digest Shekar's current situation and my in ability to help him. I went back to the same pharmacy again after 2 days and early in the morning, so that there won’t be any rush. I spoke to the owner again and explained in detail. I was able to convince him to at least meet Shekhar the next day.?Shekhar was not in a position to even travel around the city to submit his resume across the pharmacies. When I called up Shekhar and asked him to come & meet the pharmacy owner, I understood that he doesn’t have enough money to come to my locality in a bus. Good thing is Shekhar did not hesitate to let me know his situation & his helplessness to me. Immediately, I have transferred money to his Phonepay which will suffice for him to come over for interview. Shekhar met the pharmacy owner and he told me to let Shekar stay in the shop. I left from that place and at EOD, I checked with owner, he said "Don’t worry sir, he is good and he has a job here". That moment, I felt so happy as if I got the job. Even Shekhar was in tears and he thanked me a lot. Since I know his financial situation, I have transferred some more money to him which could support him until he gets his first salary. Actually, Shekhar situation demands to do any kind of job, if he failed to get relevant one with in next 1 week (garbage collection, construction work anything who pays). BTW, Shekhar is B. Com (Computers), can speak Telugu, Hindi, English. Can manage entire shop, stock, ledger etc. Shekhar was working from past 1 week without knowing what is his salary going to be (since he is under on job performance evaluation by the owner)

·???????There is immense satisfaction and happiness when we help others who are in such difficult life & death situation

·???????If Shekhar wouldn’t been transparent and open with me, I wouldn’t be knowing his situation- "Don't hesitate, Ask for help"

·???????Where there is a will there is a way- If I would have given up and not trying until I succeed, I couldn’t able to find this opportunity- "Never give up in life"

Today I went to the pharmacy again to buy some medicines for my father. Pharmacy owner was satisfied with Shekhar performance and he is ready to give him 20K per month which is Shekhar’s last drawn salary. Still Shekhar doesn’t know about it and I am going to give this good news tomorrow………. :-)

I spent about 8 years in Talent Acquisition as part of my earlier stints and closed 1000’s of positions with different employers. However, I consider this particular closure/hiring as one of my best milestone in my 18 yrs of experience that too... Cost for Hire is 0 (Zero) :-)

My intention of sharing this experience is to just bring awareness about the importance of “Helping others” who are in needy. We are all blessed by having good food, shelter, nice clothes, vacations etc….but there are many people around us who doesn’t have access to any or most of these basic needs.

Coincidently, House of QuEST enlightens & encourage employees at QuEST to nurture all the aspects like Being Humble, Being Passionate, Care for People, Open & transparent as mentioned above.

If possible, please help others to the extent….I am sure we will not lose much, just spend 1/100th of your time.

Stay safe, be healthy, Take care.
