I hope you are doing well and you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

Today I want to talk about the situation in the Real Estate market here in Austin. I am sure you heard about the latest statistics for the Real Estate market. These statistics suggesting that the number of sales is down by more than 25 %. There are potentially different reasons for that situation. I am going to write about one.

One reason of course, as we all know, the corona virus produced a lot of hardship and uncertainty for many individuals who potentially could be in the market for a new home.

Another reason is, potential sellers keeping their homes off the market because of fear their homes could stay too long on the market and they could not get the price they were hoping for.

In my opinion, there is a whole other side to this. We still have a lot of individuals who are willing to buy a new home if they would find the right one. Which brings up a third reason; they cannot find the right home because our inventory is very low. Potential buyers stay longer in their homes because they cannot find what they are looking for and that is caused by potential sellers who keep their homes off the market.

That is an interesting dynamic and I hope homeowners will bring back the confidence in the Real Estate market and start listing their homes again.
