My reading in September for those interested
Leonardo's Mountain of Clams and the Diet of Worms by Stephen Jay Gould. A selection of natural history scientific essays from an author who turns information into knowledge, and knowledge into insight. The chapter on evolutionary facts and theories is particularly interesting. The first essay on the upwardly mobile fossils of Leonardo's living earth demonstrates that even the best (Leonardo) have ideas that are ahead of their time and largely correct as well as ideas that are simply wrong...but we only remember the ones that are correct.
The Master Switch: The Rise and Fall of Information Empires by Tim Wu. A history lesson of the monopolies of the past in the information sector, starting with AT&T. The author considers the view that we live in unprecedented times is incorrect. So whilst he is as excited as the rest of us in the possibilities that now exist, he raises a concern that we should be wary of the new information leviathans. Tim Wu, a Columbia Law School professor, is thoughtful rather than emotional in his arguments, his style non-technical.
The Future Enterprise: A Transformation Road Map for the Automotive Organization by @EY. On the basis of a survey of C-suite executives of automotive companies, academics and other industry experts, @EY sets out to map the journey for the players in the automotive sector to ensure they are part of the future of mobility. A brief and illuminating thought piece with an emphasis that employees are important and change management skills essential - link.
