My Reaction to LinkedIn Reactions

You may have noticed the addition of reactions on LinkedIn; which to-date have been limited to the well-known ?? "Like" or "Thumbs-Up" emoji.
I thought it was interesting that they chose these four additional emojis for this platform.
??The hand-clapping "Celebrate" emoji - it can be used to congratulate someone on their new job, promotion, or their decision to finally start their own business, etc.
?? The heart "Love" emoji - it can be used to show that you more than just "Like" something - you really are more passionate about the post. When people share something more personal on the site and you really support them or want to show them you agree with their thoughts - you can use the "Love" emoji. This one doesn't seem too appropriate for a professional networking site; I thought the "Like" reaction was sufficient to show that you agreed with the content.
?? The light-bulb "Insightful" emoji - can be used for those really thought-provoking posts/ articles. Did the content seem innovative or inspiring to you? Hit that light-bulb :)
?? The thinking face "Curious" emoji - can be used for when your interest is piqued and you want to learn more about what you just read. Really not too sure about how useful this one is.
I thought it was interesting that they left out any negative reactions; I guess if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything and keep scrolling!
I also didn't see of anyway of knowing the breakdown of the reactions. Would be fun to see if more people are "Curious" about the post or if they "Like" it, etc. Maybe we'll see those statistics in the future.
New features are always fun to play with, though they are only available on Mobile at the moment, and it looks like they aren't available to everyone so far.
What are your thoughts on these new ways of reacting to LinkedIn content?
While studying at The Open University, I write what I like (like Steve Biko's book!) Creative, engaging content that showcases what I know already and what I yearn to learn!
1 年Well, we can't be curious now since LinkedIn removed it. I can't see the reason for the funny emoji, I'll admit I've used it, but it feels quite "Facebooky." when you use it

3 年I can send a like reaction, but how do I send the others from my iPhone now that I have one? Thanks!!

5 年I think you could use the "curious" one for this, but I think they should add one to show you disagree with that idea to start a respectful, honest conversation. Great ideas can come out of conversations where people initially don't see eye-to-eye.?
