My Quota of Lockdown Story

Most of us have great things to share about lockdown and how each of us are making the most of this crisis while ensuring safety of self and our families.

There have been video calls, virtual trainings and great learnings from all over the world how they have managed to do the disaster management or Business Continuity Plans in their organisations.

While some have found a passion, revived their hobbies, done great cleaning of their closets and homes, finished that book they always wanted to, or spent quality time with their families, some have got frustrated, as they were unable to go to their home towns, be with their loved ones and only managed to see them on video calls. We must certainly thank technology that has helped us reach our loved ones and see them at least through videos.

On work front, we have been maintaining continuous communication with our employees, team members, customers, stakeholders through video calls, ensuring that work is not hampered. On another hand, we are running contests like fitness and health challenges, byte size learning, certifications, contests on best positive utilization of lockdown and for employees to maintain stress-free work life from home, best selfies, family time and so on….

This is certainly the best time to do a lot of introspection on what we want to achieve in life, how we would like to take it up and how we create motivation within ourselves to achieve these goals.

While few or I would say, about 30% of us have managed to stay in touch with our loved ones through technology, there are more than 70% of our fellowmen who have been experiencing loss of jobs, pay-cuts, no shelter, no proper food to eat, unable to reach their villages nor able to stay in their place of work…. I just pray to Almighty everyday and believe, THIS TOO SHALL PASS......

Every disaster has a positive side too. This crisis has helped us realize the importance of family & relationships. We must always see positive side of life because we have many underprivileged in our society who cannot afford basic necessities of life and yet have to hang on till lockdown opens or some relief is given.

On personal front, my satiation levels increased - apart from my fitness regime, yoga and pranayama, I am proud that I got an opportunity to give something back to the society in my own small way, being a citizen of this great nation… We live in an apartment and like-minded inmates have come together to provide about hot, nutritious boxes of food to these poor people, everyday, those who have not been able to go back home, some are construction workers, few are working as daily wage workers, cleaners, hanging on for the lockdown to open up….

For last about 11 years, in fond memory of my father, I have been serving the needy in small ways and this initiative came in time during his death anniversary.

Our 73 years young neighbour, a Doctor by profession, who has once served and treated leprosy patients, set himself on a mission and another young and energetic neighbour with his wife managed to pick it up from there. They infused us with energy and enthusiasm and we now have least 10 packets of freshly prepared food from each house resulting in distribution of over 130+ packets everyday almost since the lockdown.

After 11 days of successful delivery, this mission is going strong....We are seeing a rise in volunteers and truly this feeling is unmatched.....

A life changing experience indeed.....

Well written and very good initiative, giving back to society.
