Fulham has many things something for everyone. Large family homes, great transport links and good schools make Fulham a cheaper alternative to neighbours Kensington and Notting Hill.

Hammersmith & Fulham borough has the fourth most expensive properties in London after Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster and Camden, with an average house price of £788,000, according to the Land Registry.

Along the river, has also been a huge overhaul, going from mostly industrial to residential in 10 years — and there is expected to be development to come. Fulham’s waterfront is one of the hottest areas in London to buy a home.

Fulham covers a large area between the river and Lillie Road, about four miles west of central London. Its nearest neighbours are Hammersmith to the north-west, West Kensington to the north and Chelsea to the east, with Putney and Barnes across the river to the south and south-west respectively.

Fulham’s streets are a combination of period houses and green spaces, while its industrial past is slowly dismantled and replaced by developments of new riverside flats.

Travel

Fulham has three stations: Fulham Broadway, Parsons Green and Putney Bridge. Nearby Barons Court is also on the Piccadilly Line. Imperial Wharf is on the Overground, one stop away from Clapham Junction which has trains to Waterloo and Victoria. All stations are in Zone 2 and an annual railcard costs £1,284.

Council: Hammersmith & Fulham council is Labour-controlled. Band D council tax for this year is £1,022.81.
