My Podcast Routine

How many of us commute to work every day? I used to commute (driving) to work for almost 3 years... for 3 hours per day. In the beginning, I was angry about it and complaining about the traffic and the time spent. I was arriving at the office crossed and exhausted. I used to listen to the news, which by the time I arrived at the office I had listened to at least 3 times...

It didn't take me long to realize that I needed to change my attitude about the commuting, or I wouldn't survive. The job was a good opportunity and a great steppingstone. I then turned to the podcasts, used the 3 daily hours for personal development, and it changed my life. My outlook changed and I started to actually to look forward to the time in the car every day.

A couple of times I've been asked about my podcast list, and after sharing it by e-mail I have decided to share it here with the hope that will reach out and help some other commuters.

Here's my top 5 podcasts. What is your key podcast at the moment? Share in the comments. I am always looking for new ones!

The Disruptive Entrepreneur by Rob Moore. Either love it or hate it... a truly acquired taste for me that I couldn't stop listening even though he clearly made every effort for me to do so... The Disruptive Entrepreneur podcast, hosted by entrepreneur, investor and British businessman, Rob Moore, offers a mix of disruptive content and a totally unique concept: unscripted and unedited interviews with both world-famous and left-field successful entrepreneurs, exclusive “Caffeine Casts” episodes and blunt “Rob’s Rants” https://robmoore.com/podcast/

Revisionist History, from Malcolm Gladwell. If you have read The Tipping Point and Blink and loved it, then the Revisionist History is something you can't miss. Each week for 10 weeks, Revisionist History will go back and reinterpret something from the past: an event, a person, an idea. Something overlooked. Something misunderstood. "Because sometimes the past deserves a second chance". https://revisionisthistory.com/

And sometimes, at the end of a long day, after too many meetings and having my brain in a sort of comma, I needed to find something relaxing and fun to arrive back home in good "sociable" shape and my two favourites are:

My Dad Wrote a Porno - Imagine if your Dad wrote a dirty book. Most people would try to ignore it and pretend it had never happened - but not Jamie Morton. Instead, he’s decided to read it to the world in this internationally award-winning comedy podcast. With the help of his friends, James Cooper and UK BBC Radio 1's Alice Levine, Jamie reads a chapter a week and discovers more about his father than he ever bargained for. I have no words to express how many laughs they have brought to my life... Don't wait... just hit S01E01 and have fun https://www.mydadwroteaporno.com/

The Infinite Monkey Cage by Brian Cox and Robin Ince present a witty, irreverent look at the world according to science. The Infinite Monkey Cage has become one of UK BBC Radio 4’s most popular science-based programme. In each episode, physicist Brian Cox and comedian Robin Ince delve into a particular field of science, with the help of guests from the worlds of science, academia and entertainment. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00snr0w/episodes/downloads

Today, I don’t commute but I do some international travelling which means that I still have time to catch up with this great content.

Finally, a special word for "The Quote of the Day Show" by Sean Croxton. Sean is a podcast host, author, entrepreneur and prosperity teacher and he has created an amazing motivational podcast featuring short inspirational teachings from the best of the best speakers. Whatever you are going through at work, he always has the right quote to pick you up. https://seancroxton.com/quoteoftheday/

All of these podcasts are available from Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Spotify, Audible and Stitcher.

Great article Paula. Thanks for sharing! I like the disruptive entrepreneur, definitely a new addition to my library. Other podcasts of my routine that I like to recommend to people who are interested in biosciences, startups and investment/entrepreneurship: The Long Run with Luke Timmerman — interviews with bioentrepreneurs about how they start and how they got there Acquired — anecdotes and analysis of recent M&As. The storytelling by the hosts Ben and David is phenomenal. The 20 Minute VC — interviews with VC people about their strategies and how they help build startups. And finally, Wine for Normal People — wine knowledge explained in plain English. Help you appreciate your glass of wine better when you found time to chill!
