My plan, to save the world, so I thought.

During this quarantine, I had an idea of how to SAVE the world — or at least in my mind I did. It became my mission and when I was not distance schooling my kids, running my closed-for-now photography business, or fighting off fears on my couch, I plugged away at the idea. Then overwhelm would set in (due to my self-imposed global-expectations) and I'd fall into the rabbit hole. An idea, too big, too daunting, and too overwhelming.
I continued to poke at the thought, and day by day the pieces began to fall into place. April 28th was National Superheroes Day, and also just by chance the day #superpowersunlimited Challenge came to life. A challenge dreamed up one night before falling asleep, wishing for a superhero. Then realizing — we all could use a one.
What kept me going was imagining kids, feeling invincible for a moment. Parents relieved with a hands-off activity, the internet flooded with the child-like magic of superpowers, and each family donating any amount to Save the Children.
And the bonus... thirty years from now being able to look back on a photograph of a beautiful moment during this pandemic.
The plan is simple and fun.
- Photograph your Superhero
- Donate as much as you wish to https://support.savethechildren.org/goto/SuperPowersUnited
- Upload to your favorite Social Media and to facebook.com/superpowersunited
- Tag your image #superpowersunited
- Share and get your friends on board!
The goal — $10,000 to Save the Children. A gift that spreads hope along the way, inspires kids to not only be a kid, but to help other kids who are so desperately in need.
Join me in inspiring change and above all, remember the social distancing rule for kids. No closer than a pool noodle away held like a sword.
