My Personal Top 10 Content Creators
Charles Abramo
Group Vice President- Human Resources @ Delaware North | Business First 40 Under 40 | Keynote Speaker | Columnist
Every year around my birthday, I find myself self-reflective on the year leading up to it. In previous years, I’ve written about lessons I had learned or about what I had hoped to achieve in the coming 365 days. This year I want to share a piece about content, why it’s important to immerse yourself in it, and the important professionals that help me continue to strive for more.
Feeling inspired can be extremely difficult in the world we live in today. Between a pandemic, social injustices, civil unrest, and record unemployment it can be hard to find that joy; to find that thing, whether intrinsic or extrinsic, that makes you want to push harder, be different, and strive for what you want.
The list below are the individuals that I follow to not only get inspired, but to immerse myself in great content and hear from industry leaders.
Here is my list of best content creators to help me feel inspired.
(In no particular order)
- Eva Sage-Gavin at Accenture
Eva is prominently known in the HR space for building best in class CHROs and also for focusing on the talent of tomorrow. She has a regular piece in HR Executive Magazine that is always powerful, insightful, and focuses on the future.
2. Christopher Rainey with HR Leaders Podcast
Chris is a beast in creating content that draws in best-in-class practices from organizations around the globe. Not only is the content high caliber but he produces it at an insane speed, meaning there is always something new to dive into. The great thing about Chris’ content is that it leads you to other fascinating content creators.
3. James Hornick with Hirewell
James first caught my interest when he produced a video that focused on LinkedIn branding. He is extremely to the point and uses humor and sarcasm to get his message across. A trait that I appreciate immensely.
4. Bob Iger with The Walt Disney Company
If you haven’t read ‘The Ride of a Lifetime’, I highly recommend you grab a copy. Iger is best know for being the former CEO of Disney and growing the company through major acquisitions like Marvel, LucasFilm, and Pixar. His 2019 MasterClass was what drew me to a MasterClass subscription.
5. Indra Nooyi, Former PepsiCo CEO
Since her departure at Pepsi, Nooyi can be found still contributing in a variety of platforms. Due to her extremely interesting background, her perspective always focuses on a global economy.
6. Mark Cuban
Cuban certainly needs no introduction from me. The Shark Tank star is best known for owning the Dallas Mavericks and his spot on the hit TV Show. Beyond being a character on the show, he often shares his incredibly insightful and intelligent business perspective in a variety of ways. In my opinion, Cuban is one of the greatest business minds of our time. In a world of polar opposites, his opinions are extremely centered and balanced.
7. David Ulrich; University of Michigan
‘The Father of Modern Day HR’ has written numerous books on the topics of HR, Leadership, and Change. My favorite of his books being ‘HR From the Outside In.’
8. Laysha Ward with Target
I just recently started following Ward on LinkedIn and found her posts/content to be top notch. Her recent posts about Personal Recovery Plans in a time of COVID has been amazing.
9. Emily Dickens with SHRM
This Chief of Staff and Head of Government Relations at SHRM has had an extremely interesting career in law, policy, and relationships. Her work on LinkedIn and within SHRM has been beneficial to me as a leader.
10. Jill Katz
Jill is an industry veteran and in the past several years has created content that is approachable and friendly yet informative and new. I appreciate Jill’s real world approach and advocating for the employee experience.
Possibly you work with inspiring colleagues or you just follow them on LinkedIn? Either way, I think it’s so critical to find the people that challenge us to think differently. This list of people has helped me tremendously in creating strategy, thinking bigger, and helping me create my own content.
Whether you have a similar list or not, I encourage you to find what inspires you and throw yourself at it frequently and without reservation.
