I decided to retire (for the second and final time) in May 2023. I’m often asked what are the best things about about retirement, so here is my personal list. I can:
- Spend more time with my parents. I am blessed that at my age both my parents are alive and in reasonably good health. The ability to see them more frequently and celebrate birthdays and holidays together is invaluable.
- Deepen my friendships with the key people in my life.
- See more of my extended family still in the New Jersey/New York area.
- Read a book without interruption.
- Travel more often and not have to worry about scheduling vacations around work commitments and business trips.? Since retiring, I have been on a 10-day cruise, made a 3-week trip down and up the East Coast, and spent almost 2 weeks in Portugal.
- Wake up when my body lets me know I’ve had enough sleep.
- See more live theater - that nourishes my soul!
- Volunteer on a more frequent basis.? I am re-engaging with my local
ARMA New Jersey Chapter
, continuing to work with the
Institute of Certified Records Managers
, and have started ushering at the
New Brunswick Performing Arts Center
(the benefit being I get to see shows for free!).
- Have long conversations with family and friends during the day.
- Work out on a daily basis so I can have a long and rewarding retirement!
A passion for Service!
