My Perfect Job - Part 3
Jim Stroud is seeking his next career adventure!

My Perfect Job - Part 3

To those unaware, I was recently laid-off from my role as VP, Marketing at Proactive Talent. I have no regrets and remember my time there fondly. As I ponder my next career adventure, I fall back on my habit of ideating my perfect job which has shifted over the years. At one point, I was exclusively seeking an opportunity as a Global Manager, Talent attraction and Strategic Sourcing (because I enjoyed my work at Randstad Sourceright so much) and at another instance, I was looking for a Product Evangelist position. Today, I have a new fascination – Demand Generation. ?

Why demand generation? It’s because I like producing content and leading campaigns that convert to marketing qualified leads. I perform like an entrepreneur with a make-it-happen attitude and a "test-and-learn" mentality. And while highly communicative and independent, I do not hesitate to enlist the support of others when needed. When I think of my day-to-day activities, I envision these duties and responsibilities…

  • Develop and execute a multi-channel demand generation strategy to drive conversion and pipeline growth. Prioritize top campaigns to attract high-intent leads, prospects & accounts.
  • Design, execute and measure demand generation programs, including email marketing, blogs, whitepapers, surveys, podcasting, online video, paid marketing, social media, sponsored content, webinars, monthly newsletter and in-person events.
  • Establish, own, and evaluate campaign response rates, conversion rates, funnel metrics, pipeline, and ROI for all programs in detail. Make data-informed decisions to continually test/optimize ROI and the right channel budget mix to achieve goals.
  • Define audience targets, ideal customer profiles, and personas and build/maintain the appropriate contact database.
  • Manage all demand generation programs, activities, and data in HubSpot or similar sales/marketing systems.
  • Provide clear and regular communication of demand generation activities and performance metrics to leadership.
  • Partner with sales leadership to ensure revenue plans are on target with the right pipeline quality and quantity.
  • Produce and leverage content for SEO advantage, driving incremental demand from Google and other leading search engines.

Does this mean that I am only interested in demand generation roles? No, not at all. I do gravitate towards it though because I get to use many of my core professional strengths: thought leadership, content development, content strategy, inbound marketing, creativity, public speaking, data analysis, and online research skills.

My background in recruiting makes me an ideal candidate for a SAAS company in the HR tech space but my skills are transferable to any industry. I was working remote long before it was cool and am available to travel internationally to support my future employer at conferences. Just, so you know.

If you happen to know of any remote opportunities, or if you are seeking to hire someone like me on your team, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am aggressively interviewing for the right role, so reach out sooner rather than later.

Cheers,

Jim Stroud

I love this post, Jim Stroud. No doubt you’ll land something fabulous again. You always do. Your path is inspiring. I’ve shared your articles with others who are in the same situation and suggested they take a leap and put themselves out there. I’ll share this one too. Who do I know? Tagging some who might have better connections: David Bernstein, Alistair Neal, Jenny Cotie Kangas - JCK, Travis L. Scott, Adam Rosenfield, SHRM-CP
