My Partnership with GO2Bank
What’s up Linkedin.
I thought I’d take a minute to share a little something about a partnership I’ve been working on that is very near and dear to me. I’m often offered opportunities to work with different brands, but rarely is there one so perfectly aligned with my passion to help people make smarter money decisions. At Gig Wage we work to empower hardworking Americans with tools and products and features that make banking and money management easier, more affordable, and more useful in your day-to-day life. So today is an exciting day.
While the need is not new, the past year with a global pandemic has illuminated the need for better financial products, for both everyday consumers and the tens of millions of Americans participating in the gig economy.
Just a year ago, I approached the CEO of Green Dot (NYSE: GDOT), Dan Henry, right here on Linkedin. It was a cold call, but I knew he needed to know about what we were building at Gig Wage and our mission of building financial technology to support 1099 gig workers getting access to their money for work they’ve done. Sounds simple right? Its not.
A lot of independent contractors and freelancers were already using Gig Wage to receive their direct deposit on Green Dot products and Green Dot had strong exposure to the gig economy via the larger ride sharing platforms, so it made so much sense. Our missions align in so many ways with Gig Wage focused on building a better financial ecosystem for the gig economy and driving economic empowerment, and Green Dot delivering tools and products that serve the real financial needs of today’s hard working Americans. I could clearly see a massive opportunity to join forces and the potential we’d have as partners.
So, I pinged Dan and he responded. We had some meaningful discussions, and we decided to become partners, and Dan and Green Dot’s support in investing in Gig Wage has been invaluable in growing our business to what it is today.
But in reality, my relationship with Green Dot started well before we were depositing millions of dollars on Green Dot products, and before Dan became the CEO, dating back to when I’d see my family and friends using their Green Dot cards to manage finances when I was growing up.
Green Dot has long been a champion for the American living paycheck to paycheck for decades, and now many Americans live gig to gig. Dan and I discussed building a modern, digital fintech platform designed for that everyday American living paycheck to paycheck and gig to gig. Too many other banks and financial institutions have ignored this consumer for far too long.
Earlier this year, Green Dot launched a new digital bank and platform called GO2bank.com, and it’s all about making smart money management and payment solutions available at people’s fingertips and solving for the real challenges so many people face like stretching your paycheck further, making every dollar count, and setting a foundation for a positive financial future.
I’m really excited to be partnering with Green Dot and GO2bank to spread the word and help as many people as possible make smart money moves. We are just warming up.
Ad Astra.
