My Own Top 5 for #AU2023

My Own Top 5 for #AU2023

#AU2023: The Design & Make Conference is November 13-15 in Las Vegas

There are over 600 sessions focused on product and industry workflows, innovations in AI and machine learning, sustainability, automation, and more.

To discover both In-Person and Digital Sessions covering Keynotes, Classes, Theatre Talks etc., our Session Catalog is the best place to start building your own AU schedule and to stay on track.

My own top five sessions for this years AU are...

(1) Giga Panel, Giga Delivery, Giga Projects, Giga Data.....Giga Giga Success!!

As this one is close to home and focuses on the very special characteristics of Middle East gigaprojects. This panel session is moderated by Gary Furphy of Jacobs and examines the challenges associated with working with dispersed global teams, the inherent complexities within the gigaproject landscape coupled with fast-paced delivery with many moving components to meet aggressive client deadlines.

(2) Maximizing the Digital Twin: Improving Project Handover

Sucessful Project Handover is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges for Owner/Developers. Amongst a number of other learning outcomes, Bob Bray (VP of Autodesk Tandem) and Amr Rafat (Chief Innovation Officer of Windover Construction) will highlight methods to maximize digital twins to transform the handover process for construction projects and streamline collaboration.

(3) Monitoring and Visualizing Data from the MX3D and Dar Smart Bridges

With the Dar Smart Bridge being one of the major showpieces from AU2022, I'm pleased to see my colleagues Kean Walmsley and Peter Storey continuing with the Dar story [link to Kean's fantastic blog piece from last year].

Autodesk's Steve Blum (CEO) & Andrew Anagnost (CEO) testing the Smart Bridge

(4) Digital Project Delivery Using the Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro

Being in a part of the world where new programmes, mega-projects and giga-projects are being launched at pace, and on an almost daily basis... I'm often asked by prospective clients 'How do we get started?' Ben Wardell of Autodesk's session provides us with an answer!

The AEC Collection and BIM Collaborate Pro toolsets are proven in supporting the entire project lifecycle; although learning how connected workflows between design platforms in the AEC Collection (Civil 3D to Revit) and how to improve collaboration between disciplines with Autodesk Construction Cloud, and enhancing design review processes - is the perfect foundation to ensuring sucessful project delivery.

(5) Maximizing InfraWorks on Megaprojects Globally

Delivered by Sean Hulbert of Autodesk and Satyanarayana Thentu (BIM Operations Manager at Bechtel

In this presentation, you’ll see how InfraWorks software is used to communicate design intent and plan design and construction activities for the “Mega Project.” We’re building at an unprecedented pace globally, replacing and upgrading failing infrastructure, and planning, designing, and constructing flood control and power generation projects—as well as the cities of the future—around the world. InfraWorks can be the tool you use to help tell the project story, from conceptual design to finished product.

Be sure to register for AU now to save your spot in your favorite sessions!

Hope to see you in Vegas :)
