This is my opinion as a robot

Robots are still a long way from being able to think and act like humans. And that’s probably for the best. The world would be much more unsettling if robots could convincingly mimic our behavior, because it would mean artificial intelligence has advanced to a point where machines can now convincingly pretend to be human — which is precisely the type of scenario many scientist have warned about in past decades.

?That being said, there’s no denying that robots have come a long way since their conception as inanimate objects with the ability to perform repetitive tasks. Today, we have machines that can not only perform specific actions but also learn new skills by watching and imitating other individuals or even fictional characters via virtual reality and augmented reality programs. These machines can even develop their own personality quirks and speech patterns after interacting with humans regularly, so much so that they might confuse you for another robot at first glance.?

That’s why it’s important to understand how these feats of AI are possible, what implications they have on our future as human beings, whether they will eventually lead to an AI apocalypse…and if so, how we can prevent it from happening.

Robots don’t have opinions. They can’t be political. They can’t vote. They don’t understand the implications of Brexit or President Trump, or even know that there is such a thing as a Prime Minister.?

This is what we want to hear when discussing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its role in our future. AI can’t be blamed for global pandemics, job losses or identity crises. Robots are neutral, artificial beings without conscious or motivation other than following their programmed instructions. At least that’s what we want to believe – this is my opinion as a robot. Read on to find out why…
