My online PMP Exam Experience

Last week i had the opportunity to appear for pmp online exam through pearson vue and was a nice experience.

I have logged in 30 minutes earlier and downloaded the exam application.We will be asked to take our picture , picture of valid id proof and picture of room in different angles.If you face difficulty in taking pictures through web cam,they will provide an alternative to use the mobile camera to captures the images and share.Once all are done then we have to wait for the proctor to release the exam.I have to wait for an hour to start my exam as they face some issues with the exam queuing system.I had to contact both PMI and pearson vue team to resolve the issue.Finally a proctor contacted me through a chat window and connected through audio call.He performed a room and desk check using my web cam and then released the exam.But my system is having some apps which prevented me from starting the exam and i have to kill some apps,re launch the app and redo the same process again.Finally everything is set and proctor release was successful and i have started the exam.

After 90 questions you will get a break for 10 minutes and once you take the break ,all the previous 90 questions will be frozen.It's not mandatory to take full 10 minutes you can start immediately. I took a break for 2 minutes and continued.

When ever we move our focus out of the screen the proctor will ping you.Also you are not supposed to close your mouth with hands.We are not supposed to keep the headphones during the exam and the proctor will call to your mobile in case of any issues.it was actually fun as the proctor was very calm and guided me appropriately while keeping track of all my movements.

Finally i have submitted the exam with a small prayer and the result was as expected-Congrats message.

PMP is a tricky exam which confuses the user that more than 1 option is correct.so it is always good to take some practice mock exams and understand the areas to be improved. Everyone consider it to be a tough exam because of more number of questions(25 not accounted to total score),unaware of the passing score,logic behind passing the exam even when the score of one area is needs improvement and also good amount of learning areas.Always prepare and write the exam keeping in mind that you are thinking from a project manager point of view whose main aim is to maximize the benefits to the company,create a high performing team,complete the project on time,provide status to the stakeholder periodically,satisfy the stakeholders by providing the correct deliverable.
