My one week experiment with posting two times a day.

I decided I wanted to bump my posting from my usual 3-4 times a week to 2 times a day for 5 days. Now, keep in mind that, on other social media platforms, multiple posting is perfectly normal.?
In fact, when I was on Twitter for 6 years (I closed my account 3 years ago) posting 7-12 times a day was “normal” for content creators slinging goods over there.?
TikTok, currently, has the 3 to 4 videos a day standard.?
Now, what were my reasons??
I had many. I wanted answers to the following questions:
1. How effective was the bell function and how many people smashed my bell?
2. Was my advice to people to post 3-4 times a week, once a day, really the best tip?
3. Is there such a thing as too much content on LI? (On other platforms posting multiple times is normal)
4. Will I lose people?
5. How many more leads can I get compared to my usual 3-4 posts a week (mostly 3).
Personally, I like to give clients who hire me the best information I can and I also want the best info I can as well.?
The Posts
Most non copywriters/content writers would shudder at having to post 10 times a week.?
But the Sunday before my experiment, I banged out 10 posts in 60 minutes.?
For those of you wondering how you can think of 10 topics in an hour…. I have a hook file.?
Yes, I have a whole document of hooks I’ve collected over the years.?
I’m usually a hook-first guy.?
Other people are a copy-first person.?
Not me.?
I love a good hook.?
To be clear, I don’t copy and paste the hook.?
I take the structure of the hook and use it to drive a new one to creation.?
Once I have a hook, the rest of the copy writes itself.?
(sort of how I would imagine a songwriter coming up with the verse first)
If I’m really stuck, I like to look at people, brands, and practices that upset me (hence my tone seems more blunt than it really should be)
Oh, and what is my strategy?
I took my Balanced Strategy that I’ve recently taught my BOOM! Ignition Group program.?
Which is a mixture of Awareness, Consideration, and Decision.?
I posted at 7am central and 12pm central, Monday through Friday.?
Now for the results.?
(First a disclaimer: 1 week testing is NOT really sufficient data. And no, I didn’t post more to create more engagement. I post, first and foremost, to drive revenue to my offshore bank accounts in the Caribbean and the Swiss Alps. Like/Comments/Views are metrics not actual monetary value)
1. How effective was the bell function and how many people smashed my bell?
This is a tricky question. For starters, the bell function isn’t fully rolled out yet. Seems most of my European friends don’t have it. Some Americans don’t have it.?
Those that do say (anecdotally) that my posts don’t often show up at the top of their feed despite smashing the bell.?
But!?
With the help of Daniel Hall (linkedin.com/in/danielbhall) who has a software program that he kindly gave me access to (I think it’s in beta phase) and wow… this program is going to whoop Shield’s butt. I found that over 60 percent (on average) of my audience who commented/liked my morning posts also commented on my afternoon posts.?
What does this mean?
The bell is too beta to comment on.?
Community is everything.?
And to be perfectly clear, it’s not MY community. I don’t own a community. I don’t manage a community.?
I’m part of a community.?
And most of the community shows up consistently.?
I’ll write a post next week about how to be in a community… and it aint “leave thoughtful comments” to grow your community platitudes that make my stomach sick. Because I certainly would fail if that were true.
I rarely leave thoughtful comments. I say “BOOM!” a lot or some encouragement, but leaving paragraphs for a comment is not in my wheelhouse.?
Nuff said.?

Personally, whatever gives you the most number of leads (good ones) is what you should stick with.?
I’ve found over the last three years, 3-4 posts a week (some need to be on 5) is a good spot for my clients and myself.?
But…you’re not going to get a ton of growth with this cadence unless each of your posts are highly engaging.?
My profile views shot waaaaay the heck up to the highest it’s ever been.?
My follower count went up to 120 new people (last week I only got 20 new followers).?
My connection requests went a little nuts.?
I’ve always been a slow and steady type of content creator. Never really did shenanigans to “boost” myself. So, last week was a jolt.?
3. Is there such a thing as too much content on LI? (On other platforms posting multiple times is normal)
4. Will I lose people?
What does everyone fear when it comes to content?
Doing too much that it turns people off.?
And I’ve always known that… yea, if you’re posting doggy doo doo you’re gonna get doggy doo doo on your shoes.?
My background is in email marketing and I’ve always had to battle clients’ worry about burning the list. And it never comes to pass.?
And quite frankly, everyone’s feed and life is so so so busy that it’s pretty selfish of us to think that our content is enough to ruin someone’s day.?
Check this out:
(This is a small sample size, not a really deep one)
Most people didn’t even notice. Most didn’t care.?
The ones that said yes, several of them DMed me or left a comment saying they were joking.?
The ones that did care, I don’t care…if they were a part of the community, then they were not genuine to begin with- I’m glad I know.?
So… you can post more (quality posts) and not lose an audience.?
Now…. for the moment we’ve allllll been waiting for.?
LEADS.?
Leads inbound alone is a tricky thing.?
I don’t rely on inbound alone. I get a bulk of my clients by way of referral. And another slice from DM conversations. And then a smaller slice from finding people on other platforms.?
It’s not a daily thing, at least not in my experience, especially when you’re not an “influencer”
To be clear, an influencer, to me, is someone with a massive following and a known name in many circles within a platform (and some multi-platform). Having managed some "influencer" accounts, they get MASSIVE amounts of DMs daily. I don’t and I’m no influencer.?
I stopped DMing people outbound last week to give myself a more “true” reading.?
Three people reached out to me.?
(Which is low)
Two signed a contract for consulting. One asked for a proposal and ghosted me- so fun!?
So, did two-a-day jack up my offshore bank accounts (hehe)?
No.?
But they kept the cash flow going.?
But I got massive growth.?
Upcoming
I’m not going to do two-a-days.?At least not unless I need to bust a rut.
First, I respond to every comment (almost every). It’s personal for me, so if you comment, I will comment back.?
And that takes time (which I don’t really have these days).?
Second, I do believe that we should always do the least amount for the highest ROI possible.?
The ROI, after a week, wasn’t the kind I was looking for (I'm not looking for massive growth).?
Third, I have way more fun chatting with my people in the DMs, on WhatsApp, on Discord, on Slack, on other channels besides Linky.?I'd rather use that energy that I had to use for the 2nd post and the extra posts (remember, I only post 3 to 4 times a week) on chatting with people on different places.
