My One Big Social Media Prediction for 2025
?
AI will continue to change how we create content. Short-form video will still be huge across most channels. Social platforms will keep tweaking algorithms to prioritize the next big thing. These are the predictions you're probably expecting—and yes, they're true. But here's the one I'm most focused on:
?
Personal brands, personal brands, personal brands.?
?
In 2025, more CEOs, founders, C-suite leaders, managers, and historically underrepresented corporate voices—women, people of color, LGBTQ professionals, leaders with disabilities, and neurodivergent professionals—will build powerful online presences.?
?
Platforms like LinkedIn and other social media channels, podcasts, and newsletters such as Substack, will become essential tools for these leaders to amplify their voices, share their expertise, and shape how they're seen in their industries.?
?
This shift is creating new opportunities for professionals at every level to step into the spotlight; be known as the expert in their industry; open doors to career growth, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities; and empower the next generation to follow in their footsteps by being the representation that others need.
?
The bonus is that this brings immense value to the organizations they represent. When professionals are visible and trusted online, they elevate their teams, attract top talent, strengthen their company’s reputation, and position their organization as the go-to brand.
?

?
BLUESKY: If only I had a crystal ball, I’d fast-forward a year to see if Bluesky and Threads are thriving, if one has outlasted the other, if a new platform has taken the spotlight, or if we’re even still referring to these as Twitter/X-alternatives.
?
INSTAGRAM: A high-quality file is important, but high-quality content is more important.
?
INSTAGRAM: I’d love to hear if you’re having success with an IG Broadcast Channel that you run or if you subscribe to one that you really like. Let me know.
?
INSTAGRAM: All 3 of these are pretty obvious, but you might find the reminder helpful.
?
INSTAGRAM: Such key advice - pick a pace that’s sustainable for you.
?
LINKEDIN: 4 tips for next year and more.
?
LINKEDIN: I was waiting for the day when LinkedIn would finally address the Employee Advocacy feature on brand pages. It didn’t work and just sat there for the longest time. As someone who led the efforts about 6 years ago to integrate LinkedIn’s then platform for employee advocacy, LinkedIn Elevate, into a 70,000+ employee organization, it’s officially an end of an error where it seems as if LinkedIn is not prioritizing their own resources to help brands with advocacy, instead, they are promoting a third-party vendor - Oktopost.
?
LINKEDIN: More information has come out about the fun banner image carousel feature. It’s for Premium Business subscribers.
?
LINKEDIN: This is being tested at the moment so not everyone has access to the feature, but the fact that it’s in test mode tells me that LinkedIn continues to prioritize professionals building a personal brand on their platform.
?
PINTEREST: These are so fun!
?
SOCIAL MEDIA: Finding each platform’s logo and respective icons to use is way more painful than it needs to be. This is a great resource!
?
THREADS: Advanced searching is everything. So glad there are now more filters.
?
TIKTOK: Will this be the last “Year on TikTok”?
?
TIKTOK: We’re the closest we’ve ever been to a TikTok ban.
?
TIKTOK: Here’s what you should be thinking about given a potential TikTok ban whether you’re active on the platform or not.
?
X: I can only hope he’s getting paid A LOT.
?
YOUTUBE: The election was the top trending topic in the United States this year, but could you guess the second one? Kendrick Lamar.
