About my Novel "Murder at NASA"

Here is a picture of NASA Ames Research Center's Unitary Wind Tunnel Complex, where the fictional murder of a NASA researcher takes place in the year 2028. (Images courtesy of NASA)

My novel, "Murder at NASA" begins like this:

2:00 AM, SUNDAY, APRIL 23, 2028—NASA AMES RESEARCH CENTER, MOFFETT FIELD, CALIFORNIA

BATHED in the eerie light of the waning crescent moon, a masked

figure in black slipped through a back entrance of a NASA building,

part of a facility that occupied eleven acres. The rear door’s deadbolt had been taped over to stop it from locking.

Called the Unitary Wind Tunnel Complex, the huge research area

was the very place where the Apollo moon rocket and space shuttle

models had undergone critical tests decades ago. The building had a 1960s look and feel.

This evening, at the heart of the mammoth structure, in a large

room four stories high, Dr. Scarlet Hauk sat alone. She perched on a

metal chair next to two workbenches and a drill press, yearning for the company of her fiancé, Nigel Worth, who also worked at NASA. Her mind wandered, and she reviewed previous relationships she’d had with men.

She sat close to the impressive 9-by-7-foot Supersonic Wind Tunnel

that stretched the length of the sizable room.
