My Next Step at Wesper

I’m excited to share the?news?that I’ve joined the team at? Wesper , a tech-enabled healthcare start-up building the future of sleep medicine.

Why sleep?

After spending the last decade caring for the chronically ill, I wanted my next chapter to focus on improving health and well-being through better sleep, nutrition and/or movement, and help people avoid the downward spiral towards chronic illness and our byzantine healthcare system.

This is personal for me, as one of the 100+ million people in the U.S. that struggle with sleep each night. I initially attributed my difficulties years ago to having kids, getting older and working a stressful job, and tried nearly every wearable and app without success. I took multiple sleep studies, visited multiple specialists, and tried common medical interventions like CPAP, cognitive behavioral therapy, and an oral appliance. It's been quite the journey!

The industry is filled with an overwhelming array of consumer products and services, tech gadgetry, over-the-counter supplements, prescription medications, medical interventions and clinical specialties, leaving people to figure it all out on their own.

There's a huge need to guide people like me through the noise, more easily identifying what's wrong and providing an appropriate solution. Sleep is complex and multi-layered, with disorders that often have multiple contributing physical, environmental and psychological factors. Sleep tests and treatments like CPAP can be scary and overwhelming, leading millions to delay or avoid care entirely.

Why Wesper?

Since launching my search this year, I prioritized working with values- and mission-driven people, where I could bring my diverse healthcare and operating experience, and help build a company that could meet the demanding standards of both consumers and clinicians alike.

In Amir Reuveny and the Wesper team, I found a diverse group of passionate, kind and driven change-makers, committed to addressing a problem I cared deeply about. And, a consumer-oriented, clinical-grade technology platform with the potential to make a significant difference in the world.

Wesper offers consumers and clinicians a unique diagnosis and treatment platform -- a FDA-cleared medical patch, multi-night clinical-grade longitudinal data, and a multi-month coaching program -- to more quickly identify sleep disorders and guide consumers to the right interventions, all from the comfort of their own bed.

While my sleep is still a work in progress, Wesper has helped me gain a better understanding of my persistent sleep difficulties, and helped me confidently make important decisions about my care that I hope will have a positive impact on my quality of life for years to come.
