My Next Chapter as LinkedIn's Head of Data: Building Responsible Data for the Future
Today, I’m starting an exciting new chapter in my career - serving as LinkedIn’s Head of Data. During my 8.5 years at LinkedIn, I’ve worn many hats and had the chance to work with many different teams in a variety of challenging areas; from being an individual contributor to now leading an extraordinarily talented team of ~1,000 scientists and engineers.?
Data and AI are at the heart of everything we do at LinkedIn. Our ecosystem thrives on data. The way we deliver value to members and customers hinges upon making the right matches in various LinkedIn marketplaces - whether that’s matching job seekers with recruiters, matching marketers with buyers, or matching content creators with content consumers. Similar to how data is at the heart of what we do, our Data team is at the heart of powering all this work.
One thing I love about our Data team is that our work spans across the full spectrum of innovation - from cutting-edge research to deploying models in production. We are proud to have many publications in leading journals and conferences, yet it is always solidly anchored in delivering real, positive impact to our members and customers. As we look to engage with the broader Data Science & AI community, I’m also excited to continue our commitment to open source and double down on our programs with academics (more to come!). With the accelerated pace of innovation in the field of data, such collective efforts will be more important than ever.

As I think about the role of our team in the community and at LinkedIn, I find myself repeatedly using one key word: “responsibly.” Either it is about using data responsibly to inform the global company strategy and operations; or using data & AI responsibly to deliver relevant experiences to create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce; or keeping the company on the cutting edge of responsible data innovation. AI and tech are playing an increasingly critical role in society and it’s imperative that we play our part responsibly. I’m excited for how my new role will help further our commitment to Responsible AI, as we continue to unlock new AI technologies to create a fair and equitable platform.?
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention all the help and support that has led me to where I am today, starting from my family and my husband, Thomas. I’m also grateful to all of the mentors and colleagues who’ve helped me grow and learn. Thank you in particular to the Data Science team who has trusted me for the last few years, and to the AI and Privacy teams whose support has given me a tremendous amount of energy as I prepare to step into this role. I continue to appreciate LinkedIn’s culture of investing in career transformations. Learning and growth have been a constant throughout my various roles at LinkedIn, and will only become more important in my role as Head of Data. I look forward to what this role holds for me, the Data team, and LinkedIn!
