My next chapter

Team:

While I knew this day would ultimately arrive, it doesn’t make it any easier. Susan and I are not getting any younger, the five grandkids are all getting older, and there are some other things I’d like to accomplish in my next chapter – especially related to philanthropy.?It’s the right time for me, but also the right time for Dell and for each of you.?I couldn't be prouder of what you all have accomplished, and I'm grateful for your leadership.?The transformations we have undertaken in Services, Digital, Strategic Partnerships and our relationships with customers and partners are manifest.

I will be available through the end of Q1 to help in the transition, especially with the many customer and partner relationships I’ve developed over the years.

I was always interested in electronics as a kid and became even more enamored with technology from my first day on the job at a suburban Detroit Radio Shack store in 1976.?But it was the results customers achieved through technology that have always jazzed me the most.?I had a front row seat to the birth of the PC to the breakthrough technologies of today. And I had a hand in helping guide some great products, services, solutions and outcomes for customers and partners along the way.?The last 19+ years at EMC and now Dell Technologies have allowed me to continue to learn and grow with some of the best people in the business.?The highlight year of my entire career was co-leading the integration office in helping to shape what has become the essential infrastructure company and the largest and most successful integrated IT company on the planet. And these last few years seeing us continue to grow and transform have been tremendously rewarding.

I can’t imagine a better way to enter my next chapter.?And there isn’t a better team to carry on our work to drive excellent outcomes for customers, partners, our company, the communities we operate in and each other.?Thank you for all you do and for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of your world.

I also want to personally thank Michael and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) for their confidence, support, guidance and friendship these last six plus years.?I told Michael and the ELT my only wish upon my retirement was that I leave Dell in a better place than when I arrived.?Because of all your support, I believe I can safely say that is the case.

I will always be your advocate, colleague and friend, and if there’s anything I can ever do to help, don’t hesitate to reach out.

With regards and much respect,

Howard

Howard, I was browsing LinkedIn and ran across you and saw you’re retiring! You may not remember me but I was a Radio Shack Computer Center Manager under your and Tom Roxburgh’s management - way back in the late 70’s. Good luck in your next chapter! All my best.

Howard, I remember many talks especially the one when we hiked the Great Wall of China and Susan, your daughter, & friend happenstance were there with us. Excited about your next chapter, and hope to reconnect as you bring as much to philanthropy as you did to your impact at Dell. Truly happy for you both!
