My next chapter

Exactly three years ago marked the end of my tenure as the CEO of Native Instruments. Since then, I have taken some time off to prepare for a new chapter in my life.

It all began with a deep affection for a region known as the Uckermark. Located just a 90-minute car ride north of Berlin, this area stands as one of Germany's most charming regions, renowned for its rolling landscapes, abundant natural beauty, rich cultural history, and low population density.

However, the latter also poses a significant challenge for the region, as it has led to rural depopulation and deficiencies in critical infrastructure. In response to these challenges, I founded UMBRUCH gGmbH in 2021, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the region's unique environment and cultural heritage.

In collaboration with the UMBRUCH Group, the commercial arm of my public interest activities, we've recently launched our first major project: The revitalization of a former inn, located on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Boitzenburg, deep in the heart of the Uckermark.

This project is part of a broader vision that I shared in an interview with the NORDKURIER. By 2026, our goal is to transform this stunning location, nestled between the ruins of a medieval monastery and an ancient mill, into a unique cultural, culinary, and touristic destination – KLOSTERPARK Boitzenburg.

Furthermore, KLOSTERPARK Boitzenburg will expand its reach to the neighboring village of Berkholz. In addition to rental apartments and a spacious seminar area, it will feature a well-equipped music production studio. Naturally, the studio will be equipped with the full range of gear that Native Instruments has to offer.
