My new year resolution for 2016

2016 would be a momentous year for me as I plan to make a difference to the world of physically challenged people. I will be running a couple of half marathons and prestigious London Marathon 2016. My chosen charity for this worthy cause is Ability Bow. They run a very worthwhile community gym for people with disabilities or long-term health conditions. My charity fund raising page is: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AshuSharma
More thoughts: Physically challenged people, when they go to a normal gym, often get odd looks and don’t get a feeling of welcome. At Ability Bow, such people are welcomed and they run special programmes for them. https://www.abilitybow.co.uk
In a typical movie plot there is a protagonist that fights against a challenge, an evil power or against a social injustice, and eventually comes out as a winner. Ability bow creates heroes in people fighting with their own physical challenges and coming out as a winner on a daily basis. I was moved by Witman Laryea’s story; here is an excerpt:
“I was in a wheelchair when I first came here, and if I stood I slid all over the place! I used to rely on my wife to bring me here twice a week but now I come alone on Mondays and with her on Fridays. After years of slow and steady progress I can take short trips alone to most places now as I can weight bear on my left leg, that means I can step up to the transport bus that I use to get around (I also book my own bus too which I never did before) It seems a simple thing but its massive to us, it gives both me and my wife a bit of freedom. See more on Witman’s story by clicking here.
It’s my privilege to be raising money for such a wonderful gym and people. I request you to join me in making a difference to people fighting with their physical challenges by donating here. Many Thanks!
