My New Digital Marketing Series on LinkedIn

If you ever read my blog a few years back, you might remember when it was called Brass Tack Thinking.

The idea was that conversations about digital marketing, social media, and our online world were way too often full of hype, loaded with the same-old, same-old, and never really getting down to the brass tacks of what makes all this stuff work...or not.

So I'm resurrecting the 'brass tack' idea back on the blog, and for my new series here on LinkedIn devoted to what I do for a living: all things digital marketing.

I'd really like this series to reflect the real-world challenges, triumphs, and business problems we run into in our often-evolving marketing world. That means I'd like it to largely be driven by your questions, the things that get you stuck, or the challenges that we can unravel together as we navigate how marketing as we know it is fundamentally shifting (yes, still).

So, two things for you:

  1. Hit the "subscribe" button up top so we can let you know each week when a new installment is up, and
  2. Comment with the topics, questions, or issues you'd like to see us tackle here on the new series.

And of course if you feel inclined, please share this post with your colleagues who might be interested in this topic so we can keep the dialogue and discussion lively, engaging, and useful.

I'm looking forward to sharing what I know with you, and learning from each of you in the process as well.

I still say it's the most exciting time in the world to be a marketer, and I think we can have some fun busting through the typical fluff and getting down to the brass tacks of what makes our work, well, work!

Count me in, Amber. I'm looking forward to being able to shamelessly self promote disguised as a compelling question. Here's the first one : Why do all eCommerce websites look the same? And how on EARTH is any individual web-facing retailer expected to stand out and differentiate themselves when box-shifters like Amazon can compete on equal visual engagement terms with retailers who have decades of visual merchandising experience yet can't use it online due to limitations of the 2D web?
