My Name'5 Doddie Foundation
For Scottish rugby fans, last Saturday at Murrayfield was a day filled with excitement, pride and a lot of emotion. The Scottish Rugby team played their hearts out and came painfully close to defeating the All Blacks for the first time in their long history.
It was the perfect springboard to launch the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
Doddie Weir is a Scottish rugby legend, and has recently shared the devastating news that he has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Testament to his character, he has decided to confront this disease head on and, along with fellow trustees, has set up a charity, called the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
Doddie’s aims for the foundation are to generate awareness, to raise funds aiding research into the causes of Motor Neurone Disease and, consequently, to investigate potential cures. The Foundation will make grants available to individuals suffering from MND, in order to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.
At The Digital Age, we are incredibly proud to be supporting the foundation and the Doddie Weir’5 Trust in a marketing capacity.
MND is a devastating and currently incurable disease and to witness Doddie’s character and fighting spirit is truly inspiring.
As the big man took to the field to present the match ball on Saturday, the reaction of the crowd showed the love and respect the rugby world has for him. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.
We have been working closely with the foundation and trust for the last few months, supporting them in developing their digital profile with two new websites and social media channels.
Firstly, we developed a website for the Doddie Weir’5 Trust, which was founded to support the welfare of Doddie and his family and to raise awareness of the disease.
We then developed the My Name’5 Doddie foundation website in time for the launch last Saturday at Murrayfield. This website will continue to be enhanced and will soon be showcasing where the money raised is spent. In addition, it will be promoting news and events, and it will allow fellow sufferers to apply for help.
We feel privileged to be given the opportunity to support Doddie and his battle against MND. Hopefully one day a cure will be found for this disease thanks to the work he and others are doing.
With your support, you will help Doddie and the Trustees make a difference to the lives of those coping and battling with Motor Neurone Disease.
