My Monday Rant: My Weekends, Sports and obligations...

And so, Monday it is...
I am usually methodological when it comes to these rants, something I think is quite evident when you read them... No? Be that as it may be, trust me, I am! But my mind feels quite sporadic this morning... I am neither here nor there.
Might just be the rains but this past weekend felt kinda long and a bit non-relaxing, not the kind of weekend you look forward to throughout the week. I often found myself wondering and mulling over a couple of things at work, some of the projects that my team and I are involved in and how sensitive those are and how we should be on our A-game to get it all right. It can get a bit tiring not being able to shut down, ruminating all the time about this or that... never really being away from work even thought you are away. But what can I say, it is what it is... like the good soldiers that we are, we keep marching on. Like toy soldiers, "Step by step, heart to heart. Left, right, left... I'm supposed to be the soldier who never blows his composure. Even though I hold the weight of the whole world on my shoulders, I ain't never supposed to show it, my crew ain't supposed to know it..." As the day starts, the week starts and as I look back at the previous one (which was quite long), I do not suppose this will be any way different from the previous one. Here is the weird thing... in some way or form, I kind of enjoy all the chaos; well, with a little less of politics, this would be the perfect storm for me!
I seem to write much about sports lately, my weekends seem to go in that direction more or less. On the soccer side, it's the international break which I am not a fan of. Usually, it is not a fair fight but this past weekend was not that bad, England vs Brasil was an exciting one. 1-0 to Brasil. Formula 1, something different is some LONG while... Max retired and Sainz won the GP, a 1-2 for Ferrari since 2022, in Bahrain.
Very interesting that is was Carlos Sainz who was the winner though, and his comments after the race. "It shows that the hard work pays off. Life sometimes it's crazy. What happened at the beginning of the year, then the podium in Bahrain, then the appendix, the comeback, the win. It's a rollercoaster, but I loved it. I'm extremely happy." OK... this is not exactly about F1 or sports in anyway, it's about lessons we could learn from Sainz situation. At the beginning of this year, Ferrari decided they would not need Sainz for 2025 racing year after they extended his teammate's (Charles) contract, that is the number one point. The number two point, there have been three races in 2024, Sainz came 3rd in the first one ahead of his teammate (Charles) at 4th. He unfortunately missed the second race because he had to undergo an appendicitis surgery but he came back in the third one and won it! STILL... ahead of his teammate (Charles); that is number three and the fourth point. Imagine being in Sainz's position, and in the wholistic view of things not understanding why you... and still being able to deliver at that level! Must be disheartening and satisfying at the same time. But the lesson from this madness is simple, keep your head down, keep at it, keep chipping and whatever the circumstances, do not compromise who you are, your work ethic!
I never actually watch TV if not for sports... like an obligation, I look forward to all weekends for my favourite sporting activities on TV, as established by now, soccer and F1. Just like my weekends, Mondays can be as exciting; if you I actually have something to write about... For now, let's leave this one right here...
Até proxima semana!
