My Monday Rant: Africa Day, Manchester United... a perfect match!

Monday 27th 2024! I go ranting again...

I felt like writing about teamwork this morning, how much I like teamwork, because it gives you an opportunity to blame someone else when things don't go well! ???????? BUT... I have something else on my mind, Saturday 25th May 2024!

And so, that happened, Saturday! What a day! For the hundredth time, I am a Manchester United fan. "Wembley, Wembley! We're the famous Man United and we're going to Wembley, Wembley, Wembley!... As the Reds go marching on, on, on!" AND... a perfect match, got it?

Ok. Rewind. Start of the day, it's a happy one,? everyone is in a good mood! It's my birthday. As usual, the girls are happier than I, and that on its own makes the day even more special; we're gonna have cake! By "we", I mean them... I'm not a big fan! And oh, it just so happens that, this day is Africa Day and there is celebrations at the girls' school, so that adds to the excitement about the day. The little sister goes from "Happy birthday daddy!" to "Today is Africa day, we're going to school to play games!" in two seconds! Thanks... way to make me feel special! ??? Manchester United is playing Manchester City later in the day, the FA Cup final. I don't know, but I have this positive feeling about the game and obviously even in the midst of the festivities, I do plan to be back home in time to watch it! A few message exchanges with a few friends as well and the day is underway, we're heading out for the festivities at the school.

The thing about a birthday is that there is just too much focus on you... I am uncomfortable with that. I've always not liked attention. I'm happy being in the background. I don't like compliments either; I never know how to react, and it gets really awkward. So there were a lot of nice messages on WhatsApp from my collegues as well, much appreciated, but you know me... But throughout the day, we're in the company of strangers, it's just a blizz! Big sister is playing with her friends and we're pretty much just following the little sister around... her happy place is the playground. So it would seem, this is it for me; one way to the bar and back here. As the day goes, I've accepted that I won't make it back home on time to watch the game on the big screen, but there is no way I'm missing it. My phone it is then!

And so it's later in the day, 1600HRS! The game starts, and IT IS GOING VERY WELL... too well to be honest! 2-0 before Half Time and 2-1 at Full Time. WE'RE THE FA CUP WINNERS! Happiness... that's all I'll say about this! Ok, maybe not, I have so much to say! It was a perfect day! Africa Day. My birthday. Winning the FA Cup. Kids having fun! All bottled up in ONE... a masterclass, I should say! (https://shorturl.at/s8wxX)

Feels a little half-baked, but I will sign off right here...

Até proxima semana!
