My mission, my Who

My mission, my Who

What drives you? Why do you get up every morning? What do you want to be remembered for? What do you consider as your value system? What lies beneath these answers is nothing less than your very individual “Who”. This “Who” defines you in a pure and unvarnished way.

In my case it simply means: During my time as an active athlete I realized that I would like to be perceived and remembered for more than “just a boxer”. I’m aware that, even if my life had its obstacles, I have also had lots of luck. However, this may be the reason why I’ve called myself “The Challenge Master”, being satisfied with myself and staying positive gave me some choice opportunities.

Giving Back

My brother Vitali and I agreed we wanted to “give back” some of the good that has happened to us. In 2003 we founded the Klitschko Foundation, which, as of today, still supports young people in mastering the challenges of their lives with self-confidence and courage to fight for their dreams. I’m proud to say we have had nearly two million young adults and children take part in one of these programs initiated by the Klitschko Foundation.

Throughout the years I’ve discovered that there are other ways of “giving back” and not only through charitable organizations like our Klitschko Foundation or “Ein Herz für Kinder” (“a heart for children”): I am often asked, HOW I became successful, HOW do I overcome challenges, HOW do I stay optimistic and enduring? I of course am happy to give advice to anyone who requests, however it’s simply not feasible for me to meet each person and give advice, no matter how much I’m honored to even be asked.

What I realized: People normally have not been interested in my qualities as a “boxer”, but more in my way to deal with challenges – psychological, physical or tactical ones. This is one of the main reasons my team at Klitschko Ventures, and I, created the method “F.A.C.E. the Challenge”. Implementing this four- step-process through Focus, Agility, Coordination and Endurance, everyone has the opportunity to master his/her challenge on a personal or corporate level in a more productive way.

The method is content-neutral so that it can be used to face and therewith overcome any kind of challenges in a sustainable way. We believe you will not stop until your dreams turn into realities, or until your goal is reached, no matter the time and energy you will need. In the process of defining your aim, your WHO, and consequently after that your WHY, you develop willpower which will help you to face your challenge and reach your goal in a systematic and guided way. F.A.C.E. will be an ally on your journey.

I also am blessed to teach at the renowned University of St.Gallen – the 4th year of my study course just came to an end and I am overwhelmed by the positive feedback I’m receiving regarding content, lecturers, experts and overall-organization. So, I do not only give back, at the same time I receive: What a great cycle!

The perfect Match

I learned that “giving back” is much more than supporting charitable organizations. Implementing my method F.A.C.E. the Challenge has helped people to gain willpower and have a better life. This advances me forward. This is my WHO.

Very thought provoking post. My who is understanding who I am and my place in this world and what I have to offer others, my why is the people I want to impact as well as leave them with the knowledge and the skills they need to find their own who and why. I believe we all have a purpose in this world and it will take situations or events that happen to us for us to realise what that purpose is, sometimes we are not always ready to learn what those messages are but eventually if we are open to those messages we find out exactly what that purpose is. I first must understand myself before I can understand others, having self awareness of what I am good a, and need improvements on what will help me be a better who as well as create a stronger why. Thank you for sharing a powerful post.
