My Method to Get 100 Leads in Six Weeks - without cold outreach!

100 Leads in Six Weeks

Getting a consistent flow of leads for your business can be something that can frustrate the hell out of you.

I see there are three challenges with getting leads.

  1. Getting the right leads.
  2. Getting the right leads at the right time.
  3. Getting leads that have money to spend.

?When I started out with Maverik, I would simply email my LinkedIn connections and ask for a meeting. It worked well.

?This was pre-GDPR, and people were much more responsive. Since the pandemic, and the sheer volume of businesses which jumped online, it’s been harder, there is no doubt about that.

?Even in the PPC world, with the privacy changes and flood of new advertisers, it’s become more unpredictable and more expensive.

?If you are selling your expertise or services and you don’t have a lead generation budget, you can find yourself ‘eating what you kill’ – in other words, hunting for clients in a hand-to-mouth fashion.

Not a fun way to do business and what’s more it becomes a way of life which creates so much instability about your future revenue.

?Before we get into fixing these issues, let me just define what I mean by a lead…

?So, lets move forward, how do we fix this in a heavily saturated digital world?

We need a method of attracting the right people, with a need and an ability to pay.

?But the reality of implementing this is difficult.

?7 years ago, I was using cold outreach to get leads. To be honest it worked, but I was getting lots of people who had interest but no urgent need, so there was no imperative to decide. I also found that a sizeable percentage would be interested but have no budget.

?Was this a wasted activity?

?Not at all, out of 100 leads, we’d get 4-5 paying clients and 20 or so people to nurture and follow up.

?I'd send 5000 emails and get 100 leads. we’d convert 5-10 of them into paying clients within a 60-days.

I didn’t mind as each client would be worth £5-10k, so the numbers stacked up.

This is pretty much what 80% of the market is still doing now - outreach to get leads. The issue now is the success rate is even lower.

Fast-forward to 2022, we don’t do this activity anymore, yet generate more leads than we ever did.

I still reach out to corporates, but that is strategic and professionally researched.

How do we generate leads today?

90% of all our leads are coming from organic social media.

Maverik now generates more than 1000 leads per week.

Most of our clients are small businesses that join our programmes. We've put more than 200,000 people through our training since 2018.

Some will say… “Oh Dean that’s because you have a big following”

I would argue it isn’t.

Having more than 100k of followers across my social channels certainly helps, but to get 200 leads from my social accounts, I only need to influence 200 people.

Many people miss this…

To get a lead, you must speak to the right people with the right message.

They obsess about a big audiences and volume, but if you are highly focused with your message and targeting, you achieve incredible results.

If you only need 50 clients per year, by focusing, you may be able to convert 20% - 25% of your leads into clients, this means all year round, you only need 200 leads.

When you need big volumes of leads, you have to be more generic and as a result your message loses its potency.

The bigger the volume, the lower the conversion.

The reach of my content helps, but as I’ve shown on Instagram recently, I was generating leads with 300 followers -just by focusing my message and audience. I started with zero followers in December.

100 Leads in Six Weeks

I just followed my process.

I’ve got 5 clients and 100 leads from Instagram without pushing or even going down the DM / Cold outreach route.

My LinkedIn has more than 50k followers, My Instagram has 1179, by the end of 2022, I will have achieved lead parity. My Instagram is quickly catching up with my LinkedIn, not in follower count, but in lead volume.

My Insta will be bringing as many leads as my LinkedIn with a fraction of the following.

Damn – I wish I knew this back in 2015!

So, how does this work?

  • You can’t get leads if you don’t lock down what you are selling – You have to focus on one key service area to punch through the noise
  • You’ve got to formalise your Ideal Client Profile - You can’t generate leads from an audience you can’t define. Who are you targeting, and can they pay for what you offer?
  • You need to speak to their urgent need – You need a framework of messaging to speak to those in the most urgent need and are seeking a solution
  • You need to build your audience – You must have a process of growing your reach with your ICPs – you don’t need to sell or pitch them; you just need access to them
  • You need to convince them you have an answer they need – This is where you can leverage content, in all its forms, to bring the leads in
  • You need a process to convert their interest – I call these Intent Thresholds, a way to help your audience tell you, they need your help. Then you can turn their interest into an opportunity
  • You need a system and action plan – So you can keep the leads flowing not just when you need them – all the time. By that I mean leads every week.

This process have been proven to work, not just for me, but many of my clients are doing it too. It works because it isn't about gimmicks or 'hacks' it's about humans.

At the end of the day, whether you are selling some clever software, marketing or coaching, we all have to do the same thing - help another human see that they need us.

Are you wondering how to do this in your business?

I’m running an eight-week programme starting on 26th May, it’s called 100 Leads in Six Weeks. In that programme we work through these stages at a pace. There is two weeks of learning and six weeks of activity.
