To my mentor Mr. Elmore M. Francisco

Mr. Elmore M. Francisco once said that in order for you to become a good manager, you just need to be ‘A GOOD PERSON’. Ignore all the books that you read about leadership and leadership styles or the training on leadership development. If you’re a good person, your values will guide you on how you deal with ethical requirements of the job. It will guide you how to treat your people. More importantly, in business dealings you will be fair.

Mr. Elmore also taught me that as HR Professionals, our only capital is our Integrity and our Credibility. So, we must build it, nurture it, and protect it. At the end of the day, our integrity and credibility will speak for ourselves.

For over a decade that I’ve worked closely with Mr. Elmore, I’ve learned so much in HR, and in life in general. As a manager and leader he will give you freedom to do things your own way. He doesn’t micromanage but he will be there to give inputs. I never saw him angry or upset about anything. He is very professional in his dealings within the company.

More than anything else, Mr. Elmore gave the opportunity to be in HR, to work in the field. I never thought that I’ll be an HR Professional, not until Mr. Elmore gambled on me. The opportunity that he gave me was life changing. It paved way for me to grow as an HR Professional, and as a person. For that I will forever be grateful.

Today, he will be retiring after over 2 decades working for the Group and other affiliated companies. I sent him a whatsapp to thank him. I will miss him but I’ll also be happy to see him travelling the world with his family. To Mr. Elmore M. Francisco, thank you for everything. Maraming Salamat po! God bless you always!
