My Measurement Assistant: A new way of learning
Remember the last time, you wanted to connect a new printer to the WiFi network, replace the blade in the blender or change the SIM card on your phone? It is unlikely that you would consult the manual if you had any doubts on how to perform the task. It is more likely that you would refer to a video on YouTube, which showed you the exact details for each step to be take in order to complete the task. In this digital world, information is available and accessible a lot easier, and this is changing the way we learn. We want information when we need it, where we need it and exactly related to what we need.
The Industrial Automation sector has been at the forefront of technology for the past several decades. It was only a matter of time, before this sector caught up with the new ways of learning. Recently, ABB has launched a web application called: My Measurement Assistant, which is helping revolutionize the way customers do self-maintenance on their ABB devices.

One of the key self-service tools in My Measurement Assistant App is the videos for troubleshooting field instruments. To keep the information concise, the videos are short bite sizes not exceeding two minutes in length. Furthermore, they can be downloaded onto your laptop or mobile device for offline usage, which is great for when you are working on sites where there are connectivity challenges. We are continuously integrating additional ABB devices on this platform to make maintenance easy.
The App also includes commissioning and troubleshooting checklists, which can be followed in a step-by-step manner by the engineer. The completed checklists can be annotated and stored in PDF format for reference in future. If the engineer is unsure or wants to confirm the understanding for a step related to commissioning or troubleshooting, associated videos can be referred to without switching the view. Lastly, the App allows the user to easily decrypt the diagnostic error messages in a seamless way without having to refer to bulky manuals.
We believe that these self-service tools will allow the end-user to solve the problem at hand to get their process up and running quickly. They help to truly realize our motto: “Measurement made easy”. If these self-service tools do not resolve the issue, the service team is only a call away!
