My mate Paul - The Unseen Champion Behind An Australian Racing Legacy

The Feeney is back in the news, thanks to Broc and Supercars. But the Feeney name goes deeper than that with his father Paul.

I met Paul when he was racing bikes years ago and he's quite the character. (probably too many years to count).

Paul Feeney's story is a compelling one in Australian motorsport, marked by his rise as a racer and his later impact as an influential figure in the motorcycle industry. Beginning his career as a competitive rider with Kawasaki, Feeney built a reputation on the track before transitioning into business.

He went on to establish the Paul Feeney Group, which became the official Australian importer and distributor for high-end Italian motorcycle brands, including MV Agusta and Cagiva. This role positioned him as a key figure in promoting premium motorcycles in Australia, helping to elevate the presence of these prestigious brands domestically.

Feeney imported some of the most exclusive MV Agusta models to Australia, with one of the most expensive being the MV Agusta F4CC. Created as a tribute by Claudio Castiglioni, the F4CC was priced at approximately AUD $120,000, making it one of the priciest production motorcycles of its time. This ultra-luxurious model included premium materials like titanium and carbon fiber, and was limited to just 100 units worldwide. It was a very beautiful piece of machinery too. Each F4CC also came with a Swiss Girard-Perregaux watch and a Trussardi leather jacket, enhancing its exclusive appeal for collectors.

Feeney also brought in other high-end MV Agusta models, such as the limited-edition Nero F4, which he specifically arranged for Australian buyers. His eye for premium and rare motorcycles greatly impacted Australia's luxury motorcycle market, solidifying his legacy in motorsport and motorcycle distribution. However, despite the Paul Feeney Group’s success, the partnership with MV Agusta ended in 2010, marking a major change in Feeney's career.

His legacy continues through his son, Broc Feeney, who has made strides in motorsport, particularly in Supercars.
