My MAC
I've been a PC guy for over 15 years and I love PCs, I'm A+ and Dell certified. Earlier this year I purchased a used Macbook Pro, didn't want to get my hopes dashed. I've always avoided the MAC, it was like walking into a darkroom with no idea of what you might encounter, like the pain of stubbing your pinkie toe on the corner of the dresser. Even when confronted with MACs in a work environment, I found ways to avoid them.
When I purchased my MBP, I did so with very low expectations. Having worked on PC's for so long there was no way I would ever convert. Basic tasks like searching folders was nearly impossible. I was frustrated with the email app because I couldn't create a new folder, like in Outlook. Fortunately, I keep a military high-n-tight so I wasn't able to pull my hair out when I couldn't find photos that I thought I'd saved in Pictures but they were actually in Photos. To remote to other machines nearly caused me to throw it away. Don't get started on the red, orange and green circles, arrrrrrrgh!!!! I've never been so frustrated in all my life with such a simple task as remote desktop to access other machines. Oh and lets not forget installing applications, I downloaded the same application nearly a dozen times, not realizing it was even downloaded! I won't even mention the pain of having to relearn how to use MS Office 2011. I was officially ready to trash it. Then it clicked, disassemble it! With it not being under warranty what's the worst that could happen? I'd break it, oh well. I refused to give up and went looking for the light switch. :)
I took it apart to see what so different than a PC. I saw it for what it was, a piece of hardware. Next onto the software.
Now, 7 months later, email usage has become smoother, MS Office 2011 is much easier to use and cute (ha ha), I can make movies too. After joining it to my domain, sharing files become much easier along with downloading and installing applications. I've since installed Fusion VMWare and am running 7 Windows VMs, not all at once (WinSrv2012R2 x2, Win10 x2, Win7, Win8.1 and WinXP). Oh, I upgraded to El Capitan to include 16GB RAM. I also setup Time Machine which has saved my hide several times and purchased an external optical drive. When I bought it the previous owner removed the optical drive and installed a 250GB SSD to augment the 500GB SATA (sweet!).
Anyway, my wife now calls me a convert. I still have a long road ahead, but I am beginning to like using it. So yeah, it's my MAC.
