My LinkedIn Contacts - Quality .v. Quantity
Over the last few days I set about to significantly reduce my LinkedIn 500+ contacts that I’ve not dealt with in 3+ years, if at all, down to a significant but quality level of under half that amount, to whom I feel I will actually make a difference! Why? Well my external image in LinkedIn, along with my professional importance, was greatly reduced once I was fortunate enough to be able to retire from corporate life in 2014, and instead I’m either driving clients around in a luxury car or coaching clients, simply because it’s more rewarding and I have a Life Balance that doesn’t need to include the word “Work”!
I don’t have the desire to, and I cannot effectively anyway, engage with 500+ contacts on this platform. This is my only "social media" platform, I've no need for other platforms as indeed I see many comments on the relevance of more and more LinkedIn “posts and comments” that have become FB oriented, but I wouldn’t know as I’m not on FB (instead I don’t judge – LinkedIn is a communication platform for everyone and if you don’t like it don’t read it!!) and personally I contact my friends by email or phone. The point is that now, with significantly less than 500+ contacts, I am able to focus on my LinkedIn meaningful business contacts with whom I’ve worked and created trusting relationships – and that’s the fulfilment!
Private hire driving is a blast and a great success but demand has dropped off the cliff since the COVID-19 restrictive climate, perversely that same climate has dramatically increased the coaching demand for enforced change-of-career or mental health and wellbeing struggles.
Those who know me will read this as a genuine offer of support in such an extremely challenging environment. If you (or you know of someone important to you) need to talk - clarify challenges, realise options or get through issues towards a new future and purpose - then please contact me.
Cheers…….Nic

4 年I found the 'mute' button several months ago and since then I only see items that interest me, and from past colleagues and customers. Anything vaguely resembling Facebook gets muted.
