My LinkedIn Account was hacked!

As of today, I finally regained the control of my LinkedIn account. My account was under the control of a hacker for an undetermined amount of time. I can only hope they did not initiate any comments, actions and false commitments in my name during that time. The LinkedIn help desk was great and they carefully walked me through the process of regaining control of my account and profile. They were the ones who froze my account after they noticed suspicious activity.
Hackers can gain control of your account when they add their own email address as the primary email address for your LinkedIn account and bump the true account holder off of that primary email position in your settings tab.
When I was hacked, the only damage I suffered, that I was aware of, was the loss of 700+ LinkedIn network contacts, which the hacker deleted. I still have 3,200 valued LinkedIn contacts remaining. I will pass this advice on to each of them so that they can hopefully avoid the agony and uncertainty I went through while being hacked.
Here is what all LinkedIn users should learn from this: Only use tough and unique passwords for LinkedIn that you do not use anywhere else and also consider the application of the double-verification process for sign in for LinkedIn. I recommend these simple tips now for all of my friends and LinkedIn contacts. We all enjoy this network but we must keep it safe.
Happy Networking!
