My Life Story-Part 1- 3 Lessons I Learned in My Early Twenties to Deal with Difficult Times

My Life Story-Part 1- 3 Lessons I Learned in My Early Twenties to Deal with Difficult Times

I will be sharing my journey from being a newspaper delivery boy to empowering professionals in the coming days to inspire you to keep growing during your tough time because I have been there where you are now!

I?am very excited as I started working on my website after number of hiccups over the last few months.

To begin with, I decided to share my journey. Meanwhile, I am working on other areas of the website. I will be sharing plenty of resources there in the coming days.

I have faced many rejections, failures, financial loss, loss of loved ones, criticism, and bullying. I have committed many mistakes.

The challenges and obstacles I have been through, every scar, and every wound I had to deal with made me who I am today.

"The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can." Neil Gaiman

My story will teach you how my life challenges and undertakings shaped my life, gave me strength, and enabled me to tap into my hidden potential in the form of my abilities, skills, and expertise, how I removed the roadblocks to my self-empowerment.

I hope you find some value and wisdom that will help you to live a Purposeful and Empowered life.

For me, self-empowerment means taking control of my own life. It means to have self-awareness about myself.

To be aware of who I am, of my gifts, values, passion, and purpose, build on those strengths and know how to deal with my limitations.

It means a state in which I am the master of my mind. My mind is stable. I control my thoughts and emotions so that life circumstances and people do not take control of my life.

Most people do not know who they are and know where they are going, which is one of the biggest obstacles to their self-empowerment, preventing them from realizing their full potential and creating a prosperous and fulfilling life.

Most of us try to escape from our problems, denying the truth life presents to us. Instead of looking at external circumstances, blaming them for unfortunate life events, look at yourself first and see if there is anything you can learn from and improve.

In life, you are either avoiding your pain and problems or facing them. If you are encountering them, you are learning and growing. If you are avoiding them, you are staying where you are.

“Your future will be determined more by choice than by chance.” ― Frank Sonnenberg.

In 2002, my life turned upside down when my dad got some health complications. My dad had been working abroad. He had to come back to India permanently. The financial situation was not good.

I was 19. I was lost. I did not understand what to do to help my family. I was used to living a comfortable life. My conscience did not allow me to continue with the same lifestyle. My mom had never questioned me and my younger brother that why I needed money due to the trust that we would never do anything wrong with it.

I realized it was my turn to support my parents.

My teachers played a huge role in my life. I am grateful for their support and the impact they had on me. My teachers helped me improve my English. They gave me books to read, which helped me develop a positive mindset.

I continued my graduation as it was my parents’ dream for me to finish my graduation. One of my teachers taught me free for two years.

I took a job as a newspaper delivery boy because it allowed me to continue my graduation and have enough time for my personal development.

I would lock myself in my room to read books and practice English for hours. I developed a habit of reading books.

“We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” – Unknown

The job was not easy as it was my first job, and I had a terrible memory- I confess!

I was finding very difficult to remember five different kinds of newspapers with the route of around 220 houses.

I would arrange papers according to the route. Whenever I missed one house, I ended up delivering wrong papers in the other houses.

People had already labeled me that I had a terrible memory. I would not be able to do anything in life.

I could not afford to fail because I wanted to assure my parents that everything would be fine. I would take care of everything.

I found a way to remember the things which helped me to do this job successfully.

Life’s Tests Refine Us

Although the money I earned was not enough, this outcome had started building my faith that I could do better next time if I kept improving myself. I did better than my label. I started living by faith which changed the direction of my life. I felt confident and started taking more faith-filled actions.

This Quote by Susan L. Taylor explains perfectly how my faith nourished and grew.

“Seeds of faith are always within us; sometimes it takes a crisis to nourish and encourage their growth.”

It’s Time to Live Beyond Your Labels

  • Take inventory of the things which you really want to do, which matter to you the most. There may be some things which need to be done to accomplish your VISION, which will energize you, expand you and bring fulfillment in your life. But you are held back due to the negative labels and limiting options of others that you can’t do these things.
  • Take inventory of all the negative labels and limiting opinions and review all of them to check if you really cannot do these things. Push past your fears and negative labels and do one of them for a month.
  • Use this affirmation every day for the next thirty days to develop a belief that “I cannot fail. I can only learn and grow.” This will empower you to take more actions towards your vision.

DO implement what you learned, and afterward, email me and let me know how it went. Email: [email protected].
