Mr. Seaforth
I am writing to you to get some clarification for my presentation to the World Food Agriculture team, with whom I will be meeting in Rome, early 2022. I am the Founder of Caribbean Farmers Without Borders and a member of the Pan African Commodity Exchange.?We are working on shipping?products from the Caribbean to the International World and also within the Caribbean. Our intention is to introduce a new Airline to the Caribbean that will be willing to handle freight through?the region. I mentioned?to the owners of the airline based in Africa servicing the United States that we would like to give option to LIAT, if LIAT is willing to convert some of its aircrafts to cargo planes?or lease airplanes to the same.?Our other?option?would be to accept the offer of an investor who is willing to put one large capacity Ferry Boat in the waters of the Caribbean to service the Agribusinesses and Agriculture sector of the Region.?I have also contacted the European?Union Commission who is willing to work with our team to make the movement of people and goods less expensive.?We know that LIAT needs to make money and instead of overcharging the passengers , the company can be more creative.?Our group does agree that LIAT would do better if the airline and the governments would find more creative ways to manage the business, because without customers, there is no airline.?My organization is presently looking at ways to export fruits from Antigua and Barbuda, but transportation is an issue.?Would LIAT be willing to look at a full cargo/freight component???
I await you response, because the very, extremely high air travel cost in the region is stagnating the progress of the Caribbean, and I know Dr. Justin Ram would agree with me. We cannot allow the Caribbean to become the poorest region in the world.?We have to roll our sleeves and become more creative.??
I await your response before to have dialogue with our stakeholders nest Wednesday.
NOTE: I have not received a response from the Receiver nor the Manager of Operations at LIAT. But I am happy to see that IICA has set up a Zoom meeting on Distribution and Transportation arrangements for Micro, Small and Medium Sized Agri-Food Exporters.
