My Leading Teams course at Wright State
In Spring 2023, I took the OL-3040 Leading Teams course at Wright State University, where I gained valuable insights into effective team leadership. By working in a group with diverse skill sets, I was able to identify my leadership strengths and apply them to achieve our objectives successfully.
Our team encountered some obstacles, but by providing constructive feedback and focusing on relationship-building, we were able to overcome them and achieve Stage 4 of group development. This success was a testament to the efficacy of our team's efforts and contributed greatly to our success.
My strength in Relationship Building, as emphasized in the book Strengths Based Leadership, allowed me to foster effective teamwork by building strong relationships with each team member and promoting open communication. (Rath & Conchie, 2008, p. 4).
As outlined in the book Creating Effective Teams, Stage 4 of group development is characterized by the resolution of previous issues, which allows the team to shift their focus towards accomplishing their objectives with greater efficiency and effectiveness. By applying the strategies, I learned in OL-3040, I continue to apply these skills in both personal and professional settings. (Wheelan, Akerlund, & Jacobsson, 2021)
