My Lagos, My plentywaka
My Lagos, My plentywaka.
“The introverted common Lagosian”
If you have come across some of my work , you would find that I derive extreme pleasure in expressing myself in our Nigerian lingua. Its called pidgin English or broken English.
If you also live in Lagos as I do, you would know firsthand that over 60% of Lagosian have @plentywaka daily. You may refer to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Nigeria to do your own estimations.
By the way, I am the common Lagosian; the common Lagosian is me and I say this with due respect, no pun intended in the least.

My Governor, I want to let you into the everyday life of the common Lagosian, Again, I am the common Lagosian and the common Lagosian is me. no pun intended
I leave my home at 4:00 am daily headed to work, I was once chided by my eldest son, he said, and I quote “mummy goes to work in the mid-night”.
The truth sir is that he is very correct, I leave my home at 4:00 am daily to beat traffic. My employment letter states my resumption time as 8:00 am. Any logical thinking person would wonder why I hurry out that early every day, it’s not normal, believe me sir, I know it’s not normal but it’s what I have to do.
Mr. Governor, if I don’t set out that early, I can add one to infinity and still be sure that I would be held up in Lagos gridlock, no matter the route I beg for divine guidance on choosing. it ends up been the same gridlock.
Mr. Governor, lateness at work is met with a well-deserved query which goes straight to staff file. Sir, you would know that queries affect appraisals and performance reviews
Mr. Governor, Perhaps I should tell you how this traffic affects my personal life.
I get to leave home at mid night (sorry I had to say that again) as such I don’t get to pray with my children before I leave home.
I am the last person to get home daily, again I don’t get to see these children because of course they go to bed at 8:00 pm. early to bed early to rise we tell them. Sometimes I think it’s a tactic used to put children to sleep so that we (parents) can catch our breath.
Oh! did I mention that children who leave home at 6:30 am Mondays to Fridays get home by 6:00 pm everyday due to the recurring traffic they encounter coming back?
Mr. Governor, Saturdays are not an exception because again I must rush out early to the popular mile 12 market or on some days Oyingbo market to stock up on food stuff, my return journeys are not fun. I never look forward to these market trips.
Mr. Governor, I believe Governance comprises all the processes of governing — whether undertaken by the government of a state, by a market or by a network — over a social system (family, tribe, formal or informal organization, a territory or across territories) and whether through the laws, norms, power or language of an organized society. It relates to “the processes of interaction and decision-making among the actors involved in a collective problem that lead to the creation, reinforcement, or reproduction of social norms and institutions”. In lay terms, it could be described as the political processes that exist in and between formal institutions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governance
It is not the bad roads this time (which I think has had its fair share of over-flogging) it’s something deeper, innovative and revolutionary. its TECHNOLOGY.
technology
/t?k?n?l?d?i/
the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.
“advances in computer technology” machinery and equipment developed from the application of scientific knowledge.
Mr. Governor, its quickly leveraging and harnessing the various derivatives using technology as a driver especially as it concerns organized transport hailing services cut across road, marine and air.
With over 5 million cars and 200,000 commercial vehicles on the roads (when the national average is 11 vehicles per kilometer), Lagos daily records an average of 227 vehicles per every kilometer of road. https://lagosstate.gov.ng/blog/2017/07/05/lagos-and-motor-vehicle-administration/
A Lagos state where private car users would voluntarily leave their vehicles at home because they trust the organized transport system of the state.
A Lagos state where road users get comfortable booking rides through an app on their phone.
Mr. Governor, A Lagos state with less broken-down vehicles off the road causing small pockets of hold-ups
A Lagos state where organized system of transportation is the new normal.
Picture this sir, a Lagos state devoid of yellow buses with black stripes and shouting conductors
A Lagos state with less than 1% traffic offenders… A Lagos state of sane and balanced professionals.
A Lagos state colored with white buses with yellow inscriptions fully air conditioned dropping off passengers at approved bus stops only.
A Lagos state where we have sane drivers who would obey traffic rules, skillfully avoid portholes, A state with buses with built in bumper cameras where they can take screen shots of these portholes and send directly to designated servers built solely for the purpose of collecting these data for real time repairs)
An accident free Lagos state, where we do not loose lives because we have trained drivers
Mr. Governor, surely you must know Plentywaka, a bus hailing service which since inception have continued to break new ground, revolutionizing the organized transport system. systematically showing how things are done.
Mr. Governor, the common Lagosian has PlentyWaka daily. the ease of movement would produce balanced citizens of this good state.
I am the common Lagosian and my Waka plenty. I speak for all common Lagosians with daily Waka.
