My Kodecamp Internship Story

It was 2 months ago I wrote about my 4 weeks in Kodecamp and now I'm here to tell you guys I made it to the Final Stage. 3 months ago I started my internship program with @KodeCamp, my experience has been so exhilarating and now I'm lucky to be one of the finalists.

I can't believe I actually made it this far, there were times I felt so overwhelmed and wanted to drop out of the internship but I'm so glad I held on and kept pushing. Balancing schoolwork with this internship program put a lot of pressure on me. There were nights I stayed up late just so I could meet up with submission deadlines so I could be promoted to the next stage. My mentor Ikeys voice rang in my head, "If you don't make the deadline you won't be promoted" or "there would be a deduction in marks for those that submitted late". I'd be so bothered because I didn't even know if I'd done my tasks well and they'd now deduct marks for lateness?

I wouldn't have made it this far without the love and support of my family. They are a huge part of my journey and I am so thankful I have them in my corner. For every task I was given, I'd send it to my friends first to help review before submitting it. I remember Deji staying up with me most nights so I can complete my tasks, Malik also helping me with my designs while scolding me on the side, and Ola giving me the motivational advice I needed to keep pushing. My best friends have always been huge supporters of me and I'm so glad I had them when I felt so low and overwhelmed.

In the pre-final stage, I was lucky to be in a team, Team Mercury. I'm so glad I met my team members and I was a part of that team. I learned a lot from them and the way we've helped each other grow in the one week of us being together is amazing and something worth emulating. My Team Lead, Dami now a Mentor of the UI/UX track in Kodecamp is the most amazing Leader ever and made our work so easy and enjoyable.

This internship gave me reasons to push myself and work under pressure. There were days when I cried, complained, and had to give myself pep talks and I'm so glad it was all worth it in the end.

I'm so glad I made it this far and I'm thankful for the lessons learned and the experience gotten. It has shaped me and set me on the path to being an amazing designer in the future. I want to commend the mentors for always being so patient with us interns and for all their good work instilling knowledge into us. To the director of Kodecamp, thank you so much for this platform, it has shaped the lives of a lot of people for the better.

Been a long time coming but I'm here finally, Mama I made it!!!

Nice and this is motivating?
