There is a seriously tilted playing field in this hiring / job seeking arena greatly favoring the hiring side. I have seen, and been a part of, the strategic and tactical improvements that have been incorporated in the recruiting industry over these last 10 years. And of course, no such improvement has been brought to the job seeker side.
In today’s market, an amateur job seeker is competing with a professional hiring representative who has been trained and continues to learn more about using technology, psychology, and clever questioning techniques.
Yes, there are some great recruiters and hiringteams out there mixed among many who are not. And the challenge for the current day job seeker is, how can you tell the difference?
I want to prepare and ride shotgun with job seekers so they can have the best chance possible to get the interviews they want … to manage these interviews well … and negotiate the terms they want.
