My Journey Through the Stars: 8 Months at Kingfield Electronics
Eight months ago, I embarked on a new journey, joining the team at Kingfield Electronics Limited as the Business Development Director. It was a fresh and invigorating challenge, as the company sought to expand its horizons and chart a path into adjacent markets. Today, I reflect on this journey – one filled with discovery, growth, and the forging of new paths.
Right from the start, I plunged into the deep end, bringing on board three new customers to the business, focusing on long-term defence projects that utilised our existing capabilities and capacity. Meanwhile, we've been exploring a fascinating new market – Space. I'm proud to share that we've been accepted onto the UK Space Agency 's Explore Programme, a pivotal first step for Kingfield in entering the commercial space industry.
One of the significant hurdles was establishing Kingfield's brand and creating a distinct voice in the marketplace. From determining our marketing approach to introducing our company to potential customers, each step brought its unique set of challenges. I'm pleased to say that the response has been overwhelmingly positive – there's nothing quite like seeing customers' reactions when they visit our factory and are blown away by what we've achieved.

A crucial part of my role has been nurturing our partnerships. Joining the West of England Aerospace Forum (WEAF) has allowed us to solidify our presence in the aerospace industry, providing essential support to our growth. Meanwhile, our involvement in industry shows, such as JOSCAR live, Southern Manufacturing, and the Commercial Space Expo, has given us invaluable exposure.
I joined Kingfield Electronics with an understanding that this would be a role unlike any I've had before – and it's proven to be just that. The pace of change here is a world away from my previous roles. Every decision carries weight and has a profound impact on the future of our business. It's a challenge, but it's one that's made every day exciting and rewarding.
Going forward, my aim is to continue introducing new customers to our organisation, growing our revenue organically while always exceeding customer expectations. It's a significant challenge, but I'm confident that we're on the right path.
My time at Kingfield Electronics so far has been a powerful journey of professional and personal development. In a sense, my experience mirrors the ethos of my former CEO, Gareth Hall, who said, "I like to be able to touch all sides of the organisation." That sentiment resonates with me at Kingfield. There's a certain thrill in working directly with people for the benefit of people.
Here's to the exciting journey ahead – may the next eight months be as fulfilling and enriching as the last!
