My Journey through QR Codes

QR Codes are the wave of the future. As a student, they are even more important to get people's attention and to network.
For me, I have done multiple events with QR Codes. When I was still a student at Chaffey College in 2020 before the pandemic hit, I was constantly reminded that Covid-19 was the next big obstacle to grabbing recruiters' attention. As an honors student, I had some help to guide me to my next challenge: completing the Honors Program in one semester. The ability to do this was insane.
I had to first let the director understand that I could do this. Secondly, I had to gather evidence on why I could do this while staying on top of my current work. Lastly, had to prove that I had the tenacity to be different than the students at Chaffey College. It was no easy task.
Let's just say in the Spring of 2020, I completed this challenge by writing over 100+ pages that semester.
I wanted to go on this trip to the colleges that Chaffey provided, I was told by a professor to create a business card. Not just an ordinary business card, but a card with a QR Code attached to my LinkedIn Profile.
I thought this was amazing yet simple.
I was wondering why this wasn't used by many students and I automatically thought, "I hold a special key in my hand to network myself with college professors while touring around schools".
Unfortunately, I didn't go as the trip was canceled due to Covid-19.

If you ask most of Generation Z, they wouldn't have thought of this either. QR Codes are very special if done right. While generating a QR Code it took a matter of seconds and less than 10 seconds to put on my business card. I found it truly astonishing that students don't take advantage of the wave of the future. It is literally at our grasp, use it.
Students need to know that if they find the right website, QR Codes can be generated for free. The QR Code you see on the business card hasn't been touched in three years and the QR Code still works perfectly!
While some may need more QR Codes like a school promoting multiple events, they can pay for that type of access. As a marketing student at Cal Poly Pomona, I see this as a gateway to connecting with more people than ever before. With LinkedIn having more than 990+ million people, that's three times more than the United States population, why wouldn't you help yourself create a simple QR Code to help generate a network?
As a marketing student that is about to start her journey in the "real world", QR Codes could help me find and develop connections with companies that are hiring through LinkedIn.
My business professor at Chaffey College told me a couple of quotes that are that represent what our time is going through.
"Make change your opportunity" and "The world is constantly changing". - Thierry Brusselle, MBA
Two unique quotes that I take to my heart when thinking about what is going on in the world. QR Codes are endless. They have endless possibilities and many of us do not take advantage of creating a QR Code.
Our future technology is growing, will you grow and make change your opportunity or will the constant change keep you behind?
I am reminded of this because of a simple business card I made three years ago. QR Codes are the future.
