My Journey Through the First Trimester of PGDM: A Transformational Experience

Hello connections,

As I reflect on my journey during the first trimester of my Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) course Mumbai Educational Trust, MET League of Colleges , I am filled with a sense of accomplishment and excitement. This initial phase has been a rollercoaster ride of change, challenges, and thrilling experiences, which have transformed me from a science chemistry graduate to a management enthusiast.

The decision to transition from chemistry to management studies was driven by my profound interest in leadership, the art of managing, and the dynamic world of interacting with people. This switch was a deliberate step towards broadening my horizons and equipping myself with the skills necessary for a leadership role.

My journey officially commenced on the 19th of July, and it began with a comprehensive induction program that provided a detailed roadmap of what the forthcoming two years of the PGDM course would entail. This orientation was not merely an exercise in formality; it facilitated a smooth integration into the academic environment. Additionally, it included enjoyable activities thoughtfully organized by senior students, which facilitated both peer networking and new connections.

The journey encompassed an array of experiences, from timely submissions and interactive presentations to rigorous assignments, stimulating activities, and engaging video content, which all collectively eased the learning process. These activities and innovations have not only enhanced my academic acumen but have also imparted valuable life skills, including efficient time management and the cultivation of critical thinking.

One of the program highlights was the paper product project, during which I had the privilege to showcase my creativity in the fields of management and entrepreneurship. Notably, our group's innovative efforts were recognized as we were bestowed with the accolade of 2nd runner-up.

During this period, I also had the opportunity to host the Teacher's Day celebration, which markedly elevated my confidence as a public speaker.

The curriculum of the first trimester spanned diverse subjects that provided a holistic perspective on management. The study of design thinking encouraged innovative problem-solving, while research methodology imbued us with a comprehensive understanding of the nuances of research. Disciplines such as mathematics, statistics, managerial accounting, managerial economics, corporate social responsibility, and organizational behavior augmented our knowledge base across various domains.

The subsequent lecture sessions were characterized by a seamless blend of theory and practical insights, courtesy of our accomplished faculty. Each educator's unique pedagogical approach enriched our learning experience and extended our competencies.

Of particular significance was the subject of Organizational Behavior (OB), which not only conveyed management principles but also imparted about creating better personality and building good relationships with communities and people, both personally and professionally.

Anand Singh Rajawat , our skilled faculty member for OB, introduced a unique teaching style that made each student enthusiastic and interactive. The group activities assigned by him, focused on teamwork and individual behavior, taught us the importance of collective efforts in achieving a common goal. As the leader of our group, I learned the significance of comprehensive insight into effective communication, contributions from each member, and the power of working together harmoniously.

In conclusion, the first trimester has been a whirlwind of interactions, thought-provoking outbound experiences, engaging academic activities, and the practical application of learning. It has imparted a diverse skill set that includes, but is not limited to, time management, psychological insight, soft skills, technical proficiency, leadership acumen, and adaptability.

I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to each faculty member and fellow classmates who has contributed a valuable support system throughout this journey. As the initial trimester concludes, I eagerly anticipate the enriching experiences that lie ahead in my PGDM course, each of which is bound to contribute to my professional and personal development.

Here's to continued growth, learning, and the relentless pursuit of excellence in the sphere of management!

With the utmost respect and warm regards,

Khushi Jaiswal
