My journey at Széchenyi István University

Since 2022, I have had the privilege of working at the Széchenyi István Egyetem , SZE - Centre for University-Industry Cooperation (SZE-FIEK) in Gy?r. Before this, I spent 13 years in London, working on various international projects.

The transformation of Hungarian higher education, particularly the opportunities stemming from the model change, has been a surprising and enlightening experience for me. The shift has opened up new horizons for universities, and I have been amazed by Széchenyi István University's commitment to embracing this change.

The university takes pride in not only excelling in professional work, education, and scientific research but also its dedication to social responsibility. Our students are not just future engineers, technical educators, IT professionals, lawyers, economists, musicians, healthcare, and social science experts; they are also the intellectual elite of this country and the region, with a strong sense of social responsibility.

At our university, alongside applied sciences, there is a strong emphasis on basic research. Our faculty members are not only able to envision what the future holds but actively shape it. We have undertaken the task of building a model for the evolving Hungarian higher education system, setting an example for others to follow.

The Centre for University-Industry Cooperation serves as an open collaboration platform, focusing on enhancing the international competitive and innovative capabilities of regional, domestic, and international corporations, as well as developing an innovation ecosystem centred around the university and leveraging synergies between the university and market players.

Our mission revolves around developing the university's innovation ecosystem, including fostering student and faculty innovation, protecting, and utilizing intellectual creations, incentivizing entrepreneurial activities among students, faculty, and researchers, and generating collaborative R&D projects with businesses to expand service portfolios.

At our institution, we offer a wide array of services and engage in ground-breaking R&D activities across various domains.

Our services encompass a broad spectrum, ranging from research and innovation consulting to tailored industrial issue resolution that leverages university competencies and synergies. We also provide leadership consulting and competency strengthening, strategic consulting, financial analysis, business planning, and marketing and communication solutions.

Our R&D initiatives span diverse areas such as automation, Industry 4.0, and telecommunications. We are at the forefront of 5G technology, with expertise in core network and measurement ecosystems, healthcare impact assessment, RAN network and measurement ecosystems, and the development of 5G-supported drone technologies.

Additionally, our focus extends to the digital economy, including the sharing economy, eSports, cloud gaming, and precision farming, notably the 5G SMART Farm. At the Agricultural and Food Research Centre , we also conduct significant research in agricultural technology and environmental services, covering microbiological testing for food and feed, cereal testing, agricultural sensor network development, soil testing, and feed and food analytical testing. Furthermore, our involvement in vehicle system development encompasses battery management, drone and UAV development, motor control development and related testing, as well as the development of autonomous robot and vehicle control systems.

These are just a few noteworthy examples of the extensive services and pioneering R&D efforts that define our commitment to innovation and excellence.

This journey has been incredibly enriching and I see immense potential in our efforts to establish ourselves as a globally renowned institution with this model, setting a benchmark for others to follow.
