This is my journey
While we know a career path is not easy, the road I have been on has had potholes and wrong turns. Many people I meet want to know my story so I took some time to jot it down to share with you. Here it is...my journey
I am an experienced entrepreneur with the bulk of my experience in the technology / IT industry. After working in corporate IT departments for almost 15 years, I branched out and started my own IT services (managed services) company in 2002. I had a good amount of success and then sold my client base in 2007.
Based on my accomplishments and experience as an MSP, I began consulting with MSPs around the globe. I coached these MSP firms to help them discover ways to be more profitable. I aided the business owner by streamlining and documenting their sales and service delivery process to add revenues and profits to the bottom line. While coaching and consulting with MSPs from 2007 to 2013 I found those that truly engaged in the process with me achieved double and sometimes triple digit growth.
In 2013, I started consulting on the channel vendor side of the industry. I helped new vendors break into the channel through development of their market messaging, sales process and overall channel engagement. In 2014, Vorex hired me as their Chief Operations Officer. Within 11 months, I had overseen the building of the cloud-based software, taken the solution to market and then the company was acquired by Kaseya.
In 2015, after Vorex was acquired, I took the position of VP of Channel Sales with a startup security vendor. Within 6 months, I had grown the channel program over 250% and increased sales over 425% through channel engagement. Unfortunately, the company was not well funded enough to continue this level of growth so, my position was eliminated.
Today, my company Selbst Consulting Group, helps small and medium businesses with their operations. We focus on everything that falls into the operational category; starting with a simple SWOT analysis, documenting SOPs and workflows, technology overview, recruiting and hiring of staff and everything in between.
