My Radio Journey; Dreams Do Come True

I've always arranged slots for other people, particularly on the radio except for myself. I would set up interviews and enjoy seeing them in the limelight. I particularly want to thank Mubu Delorne Mubu the late for teaching me the rules of engagement when you want to have a radio pitch. It's one of the skills l learned through Toastmasters as we had Toastmasters Week in 2022, during that time l was writing, and coordinating feature articles with DTM FutureThuba Moyo and Immediate Past District Director Andrew Tsuro.?

As a Public Relations Coordinator at that time, l learned how to serve and how to make Toastmasters work for you. It wasn't easy but still learned a lot. As l am writing this to you, there are many articles I've written anonymously for famous people simply because l wanted to write for the fun and love of it, not for money and fame. What it taught me was patience and that sometimes it's important to stay in the dark and learn your craft till you master it. In that process; l met Namatai Kwekweza who won a Table Topics Contest alongside Farirai Nyamukapa

Through that time in 2022, I learned to design even better fliers, and copywriting as a result bumped into Digital marketing which I then pursued with the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe and today I would like to say I am a certified digital marketer.

Not only did it stop there. I would then write articles for other upcoming startups, I would like to thank Tafadzwa Zimoyo TheBoss, Fungayi Antony Sox, and Faith Chipangura for mentoring me and showing me how real reporting and journalism are done despite not having gone through it or learning about it in school. You supported me through it all.

After serving, learning, and being thrown to the deeper end I had confidence in my public speaking, writing capabilities, and volunteerism. I then decided to apply for radio, being based in Bulawayo I had fears that l wouldn't make it or either be considered. There is this profile I went on to design and perfect it, which l had used for a Team Building engagement and it was successful which later on got me another team building exercise to do for PPC Zimbabwe on their Wellness Day at Collen Bawn in Gwanda. Thanks to my boss Sonia Maposa. I circulated the proposal around to the radio stations in Bulawayo and waited anxiously for the response.

I then met Khayelihle Moyo, like God knew somehow I had to be at SkyzMetroFM at that time. It still amazes me today; that they were looking for someone like me to present and give a slot to. It just so happens that a few days later, I got a message to come to the studio, l would then meet the famous Possenti Ndabezwe Ncube Sikosana in person and chat about what would become a Metro Drive Slot for Self Development and Mental Health.

Before l did any of the presentations l would first pray and then ask God to take control so that whoever listened to the presentations would be inspired. In Toastmasters International we are given a short time to present thus l would find a way to strip the?important information into the 15 minutes which later on got to be 30 minutes. It has been amazing being hosted by the amazing Mandazi Queen aka Taboka Nleya, Njabulo Jay-bee Moyo, and Miss G aka Gloria Bhebhe. Why this post at this point?

I want to motivate someone who may be thinking I am all alone and nobody seems to care about what I am doing in the dark. God is preparing you for a bigger platform, continue to serve and show up even if it doesn't make sense. 2023 might not have been your year but 2024 is waiting for you to make an impact.

Continue telling people your vision and how you want to change the world. Many people are looking for you, you are just a few miles from your breakthrough and miracle. Trust in the Lord and know everything works for good for those who trust in the Lord. When you're thinking I've failed, your blessing is waiting to meet you.
