My Journey as a Marketer: The Road to Launching Mujeres in Marketing

From Vision to Reality

Hola, I’m Ana Carolina Salazar, a passionate marketer and the CEO & Founder of Bold Hispanic Marketing Agency . My journey began with a deep-seated desire to bridge the gap between brands and the vibrant Hispanic market. This mission has been my guiding star, driving me to create meaningful connections and impactful campaigns that resonate with our community.

The Spark & Gaining Experience

My story in marketing started at Entravision , where I ran the "Color de Vida" campaign for the American Cancer Society . It was here that I witnessed a significant gap – many Hispanic women were unaware of the support available to them. This gap in communication ignited a fire within me. I knew something had to change, and I wanted to be the catalyst for that change.

In addition to my work at Entravision, I gained invaluable experience with Prospera, an economic development nonprofit. At Prospera USA , I worked closely with Hispanic entrepreneurs, providing them with the resources and support they needed to establish and expand their businesses. These experiences gave me deep insights into the unique challenges and opportunities within the Hispanic community.

Building BOLD

In 2019, fueled by this passion, I founded Bold Hispanic Marketing Agency. Our mission? To connect brands with the fast-growing U.S. Hispanic market in a culturally relevant way. The journey was filled with challenges, but each obstacle only strengthened my resolve. With a talented team by my side, we’ve served over 150 clients, grown our sales by over 1000%, and garnered numerous awards, including the prestigious Don Quijote Award for Hispanic Business of the Year.

Beyond Business

Beyond my business, I am deeply committed to serving la comunidad. I proudly serve on ALPFA Orlando 's Board of Directors as Vice President of Marketing and am involved with Heart of Florida United Way 's Marketing Advisory Committee and Women United Luncheon Committee. During the pandemic, I co-founded "Mas," an alliance of marketing agencies that pooled resources to benefit the community.

The Birth of Mujeres in Marketing

Throughout my career, I’ve always believed in the power of community and mentorship. I noticed that many Latina women in marketing faced similar challenges – from underrepresentation to cultural barriers. This shared experience inspired me to help create something that would provide support, resources, and a sense of belonging to Latina marketers.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Yeliza Centeio for reaching out to me and inviting me to be a part of the Founding Board of Mujeres in Marketing . Your belief in me and this cause means the world. Additionally, I owe a huge thanks to Ashley Rivera Mercado, MBA , the founder and president, for having the vision and drive to create this incredible organization. I’ve always wanted to build a community around marketing, and with Mujeres in Marketing, we’ve knocked it out of the park.

My Mission

If I can shorten the path for another woman by sharing my knowledge and everything I have learned throughout these years, by sharing my story, that’s my purpose. Mujeres in Marketing is about creating a space where we can share our journeys, support each other, and celebrate our successes.
