My Journey Interning at American Airlines ??

What a blessing it has been to have the opportunity to intern at the largest airline in US, American Airlines. Over the past 10 weeks, I have had the privilege of being part of an amazing software engineering team that has significantly contributed to my growth as a developer. Below are some key takeaways and highlights from my time at American Airlines.

??? Technical Skills

I had the opportunity to learn how to use Spring Boot, Mockito, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Event Hubs, Kafka, Mezmo, and Azure data centers. Additionally, I gained valuable experience in creating effective and industry-standard applications, which significantly enhanced my technical skills and prepared me for future career opportunities. This experience has opened my eyes to how application workflows operate in a large company.

?A project that I have worked on and my Accomplishments.

I had the opportunity to work on two different applications. Both applications were back-end applications. I was given tasks to create a unit test for both applications and find any bugs. One of the standout accomplishments that I am proud of is finding the root cause of the missing data on the missing data. I also got a chance to fix the bugs and deploy it to production.

?Important Lessons I am going to take away from the experience:

Besides learning how to create robust applications, I also learned how to be a good teammate, apprentice, and student. Most importantly, I discovered the importance of adaptability, even when working with unfamiliar tech stacks. The internship also pushes me to be a good problem solver. This experience and the knowledge gained will be invaluable as I embark on my career journey in tech.

?Memorable Moment in American Airlines

One of the most memorable moments of interning at American Airlines is the first two days. They had the greatest welcome ceremony that I have ever seen in my career. They welcome their intern like we are treasured, although we will only spend 10 weeks with them. What an amazing company!!
