My journey and my efforts

Growing up in a remote rural area during the 1970s presented its own set of challenges. Without access to basic amenities such as electricity, telephone, and proper roads, our daily lives were marked by difficulties and limitations. However, amidst these hardships, there was a greater struggle to understand and accept one's own identity. It was not until I was fortunate enough to encounter a group of supportive friends that I began to embrace my true self. Their acceptance and guidance became the catalyst for my lifelong dedication to advocating for LGBTQ rights.

Since then, my journey has been marked by tireless efforts to achieve equality and inclusivity for the LGBTQ community. Through advocacy and activism, we have made significant strides towards a more accepting and inclusive society. However, there is still much work to be done. Every individual deserves the freedom to live authentically, without the fear of discrimination or prejudice.

There is a significant LGBTQ population residing in rural areas, like myself, who are currently facing formidable challenges without any form of assistance. This lack of support can exacerbate the already complex issues they encounter. For example, LGBTQ individuals in rural areas often struggle to find acceptance and understanding from their families, friends, and communities. In addition, they may have limited access to LGBTQ-friendly healthcare services, mental health support, and social connections. These individuals frequently have to navigate their identities alone, which can lead to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression. It is crucial to acknowledge the unique difficulties faced by LGBTQ individuals in rural areas and work towards providing them with the necessary support and resources they need.

In order to create a more inclusive and diverse society, it is crucial that we all come together and work towards common goals. Collaboration is key, as it allows us to pool our resources, knowledge, and skills in order to achieve greater impact.
